The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures Reveals Spring Slate

The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures has announced its 2026 spring programs, which will include special guests like Jessica Alba, Steve Anker, Dion Beebe, Bong Joon Ho and more. The slate includes film series, public programs and education programs. 

Programming includes a weekend with Ho featuring director David Fincher, a screening of “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” to mark the opening of the “Marilyn Monroe: Hollywood Icon exhibition” and the annual Careers in Film Summit featuring Academy members and industry professionals, amongst many other events. 

Ben Burtt, Ashley Clark, Janie Gieser, Beth Kean, Ken Kwapis, Shane Mahan, Hannah Minghella, Max Minghella, Mandy Moore, Isis Mussenden, Dennis Muren, Ngozi Onwurah, Gerald Quist, Nia Vardalos, Billy Dee Williams and more will also join. 

“We are thrilled to offer visitors an exciting lineup of programming this spring that celebrates the history of film while championing future filmmakers,” said Director and President of the Academy Museum and Academy Collection Amy Homma in a statement. “From unique screenings accompanied by conversations with some of the most prolific filmmakers, to family-friendly workshops, and exciting new exhibitions, there is truly something for everyone to enjoy.”

Felicia Pride’s Honey Chile Entertainment Acquires Film & TV Rights to “The Greene Sisters” Trilogy

Award-winning filmmaker and TV writer Felicia Pride (“Bel-Air,” Netflix’s “A Different World” sequel) will develop Kristina Forest’s trilogy of romantic novels (“The Neighbor Favor,” “The Partner Plot” and “The Love Lyric”) through her independent media and production company Honey Chile Entertainment.

“I’ve been a fan of Felicia Pride’s work for years, and we share the same mission of creating life-affirming art featuring Black women,” said Forest in a statement. “ I’m so thrilled that Honey Chile has optioned ‘The Greene Sisters’ series and I’m excited for all that’s to come.”

The “Greene Sisters” series centers on three accomplished sisters navigating career, family and modern love. “While each novel functions as a standalone,” a press release explains, “the trilogy collectively builds a cohesive portrait of contemporary Black sisterhood and romance.”

Pride will write and produce the first film and serve as producer on the remaining two movies.

“At Honey Chile, we’ve always centered the audience and the power of Black storytelling,” added Pride. “Kristina is such a smart writer whose work completely draws you into her worlds. Her ‘Greene Sisters’ trilogy captures romance, ambition, and partnership in ways that feel aspirational and deeply familiar.”

The acquisition marks a major expansion of Honey Chile’s premium film and television slate, underscoring the company’s mission to develop and produce stories by, for and about Black women over 40.

“As we mark five years in operation, our commitment to telling layered, culturally resonant stories, the kind born in our living rooms, hair salons, and girls’ trips — has never been stronger,” Price added. “We’re excited for this next chapter.”

North American Rights to Crime Thriller “Once a Week for Life” Acquired by Stonecutter Media

Stonecutter Media has acquired North American distribution rights to the crime thriller “Once a Week for Life.” The film is produced by Fiat Lux Studios in association with BrandCinema, and is set to premiere on March 19 in New York City.

Following the premiere, “Once a Week for Life” will be available in select theaters before expanding to digital and cable platforms throughout the United States and Canada, starting April 14.

“Once a Week for Life” follows NYPD Lieutenant Adam Galanis, a Navy SEAL veteran battling PTSD and addiction while leading the NYPD–U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force. When a botched fugitive sting sparks a violent collision between the Castellazzo crime family and powerful figures inside City Hall, Galanis is forced into an impossible choice: die by his own uncompromising code or survive by becoming something worse.

John Kapelos (“The Shape of Water”) and Diana Durango (“Escape at Dannemora”) lead the film’s ensemble cast, joined by Daniel Roebuck (“The Fugitive”), Dikran Tulaine (“The Blacklist”), Armen Garo (“The Departed”), Robert Funaro (“The Sopranos”), Al Sapienza (“The Sopranos”), John Fiore (“CODA”), and Owen Burke (“The Town”).

“Once a Week for Life” is set in New York and was written and directed by George Zouvelos, who also stars in and produces the film, alongside Nicholas Levis.

Slamdance Announces Sparky Award Winners

Slamdance Film Festival’s annual Sparky Awards in audience and jury categories were handed out to emerging filmmakers from around the world during the awards ceremony on Feb. 25 at the Egyptian Theater in Los Angeles.

“Speedy!” filmmaker Jiin Oh received the AGBO Fellowship, created by Slamdance alumni Joe and Anthony Russo, while Aaron Hughes’ “Cat & Nat” took home the Summer Chastant Episodic Award.

The 2026 lineup consisted of 141 films, 50 of them being world premieres. Auteurs and industry professionals voted to determine the festival’s jury awards across ten categories.

The narrative feature grand jury prize was awarded to Yuqing Lai’s “Whisperings Of The Moon,” while the breakouts feature prize went to David Maler;s “Zumeca,” and the documentary feature prize to “Silver,” directed by Natalia Koniarz. J. Snow’s “You Look Fine” won the Unstoppable feature category, while Shane Hillier’s “Everhand” won the Unstoppable short film prize.  

Additionally, the 2024 Episodes prize was awarded to “Vicky Wakes Up,” directed by Victoria Blade; the 2024 Narrative Shorts prize was won by “Beaks,” directed by Xavier Demoulin, and the documentary short prize was awarded to “Panther Pat,” directed by Ashley Brandon. Suse Itzel’s “I Would Have Liked To Make A Different Film” won the experimental short category, and “Busy Bodies” directed by Kate Renshaw-Lewis, took home the animated shorts prize.

The 99 Special Jury Prize was awarded to “Dead Grandma,” directed by Rachel Kempf and Nick Toti. The George Starks Spirit of Slamdance award went to Jalen Wilson-Nelen for” Puke Bitch.” The festival’s outstanding acting award, which is curated by the Slamdance team, went to Angela Canó for “Zumeca.”

The 2025 audience awards — which are voted on by Slamdance attendees — went to “Three Colors: Pan-African,” directed by Elijah Davis, Allison A. Waite, and Tyler Ocasio Holmes (narrative feature); “Kings of Venice,” directed by Sveinn Ingimundarson and S.D. Saltarelli (documentary feature); and “You Look Fine,” directed by Snow (Unstoppable).

This year’s Slamdance lineup consisted of titles from more than 50 countries, including Australia, Brazil, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Iceland, Iran, Palestine, Spain, Sudan, and Vietnam, among others.

Tickets on Sale Now for BTS’ ‘Arirang’ In-Theater Concerts

Tickets are now on sale for live viewings of BTS’ “Arirang” world tour, which will allow fans around the world to experience the spectacle in cinemas. The full-length cinema broadcasts of the two shows — Goyang and Japan — will take place on April 11 and April 18, respectively. 

The “Arirang” world tour marks the group’s (which includes RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook) return to the global stage in their first shows since 2022, when the group toured “Permission To Dance On Stage.” The “Arirang” tour spans 34 cities worldwide and 82 shows, and accompanies their fifth full-length album. 

Screenings, which will showcase the tour’s 360-degree in-the-round stage design, are set to take place in more than 3,800 locations across more than 80 locations. Further live viewings are planned for later in the year. More details will be announced at a later date.

Taurus World Stunt Academy handed out honors for the 25th annual Taurus World Stunt Awards on Saturday during a live ceremony at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre, celebrating the film industry’s top stunt professionals and action filmmaking achievements.

This year’s awards recognized stunt work across major studio releases and streaming originals, with nominated films representing Walt Disney Company, Warner Bros., Amazon MGM Studios, Lionsgate, Paramount, Apple TV+ and Netflix. Titles in contention included “Thunderbolts,” “Superman,” “A Working Man,” “Shadow Force,” “The Naked Gun,” “The Gorge” and “Havoc.”

The ceremony opened with a headline-making moment as nominee and Red Bull athlete Jon Devore parachuted from a helicopter to deliver the Taurus Award statue to the red carpet, officially kicking off the show.

In addition to eight competitive categories — including hardest hit, best fight, best work with a vehicle, best specialty stunt and best stunt coordination/second unit direction — the Academy introduced the first-ever ICON Award, presented to Arnold Schwarzenegger. The inaugural honor recognizes Schwarzenegger’s lasting influence on the modern action hero and his impact on generations of stunt performers. His onstage appearance was met with a standing ovation from the stunt community.

2026 Taurus World Stunt Awards Winners

Winners are selected exclusively by the Academy’s nearly 3,000 members, making the Taurus Awards the only film honors voted on entirely by working and retired stunt professionals. The event remains the industry’s sole awards show dedicated exclusively to stunt performers and second unit artists.

The Taurus World Stunt Awards benefit the Taurus World Stunt Awards Foundation, established through an endowment inspired by the late Red Bull founder Dietrich Mateschitz, to provide financial assistance to stunt performers who suffer debilitating, stunt-related injuries.

The Taurus World Stunt Awards first aired on U.S. television in 2001 and continue to spotlight the behind-the-scenes athletes whose work defines action cinema.
