The son of โWalking Deadโ star Norman Reedus was arrested and charged after an alleged assault in New York City on Saturday, Aug. 23.
Mingus Reedus, 25, was charged with third-degree assault, assault recklessly causing injury, criminal obstruction of breathing, second-degree harassment and aggravated harassment, court records show. He pleaded not guilty on all five counts Aug. 23.
The New York Police Department said Mingus Reedus was arrested after officers responded to an assault in progress in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan. Upon arrival, police found a woman, 33, with โminor injuries to the neck and leg.โ The woman was transported to an area hospital in stable condition, police said.
Mingus Reedusโ attorney Priya Chaudhry said in a statement to NBC News, “As the facts emerge, his innocence will become clear.”
โDespite what the prosecutor said in courtโwhich is not evidenceโthey chose to charge Mingus with misdemeanors or less. This speaks volumes, and much louder than the unsupported prosecutorโs in-court comments,โ she said.
Chaudhry added the judge “released Mingus on his own recognizance, with neither bail nor supervision.”
Norman Reedus shares son Mingus Reedus with model Helena Christensen. He also has a daughter, Nova, with partner Diane Kruger.
In 2021, Mingus Reedus, who was then 21, was charged with misdemeanor assault after a 24-year-old woman accused him of punching her in the face at the San Gennaro festival in Manhattan’s Little Italy neighborhood, “E! News” reported.
At the time, he told the New York Daily News that the woman and her friends bumped into his group of friends at the festival. He said he โthrew his arm outโ to protect himself and hit the woman in the process.
At the time, his attorney called the charges “baseless” in a statement to People. In 2022, he accepted a plea deal, People reported.
