Shark Week is back for another year of epic programming.
This year marks the 37th annual Shark Week event, which returns to the Discovery Channel for 20 hours of brand new specials for fans.
Last year, more than 25 million viewers tuned in for Shark Week according to Warner Bros. Discovery, with Howard Lee, chief creative officer of U.S. networks and president of Discovery networks, calling it a โcultural phenomenon.โ
โBut what truly sets it apart is the sheer joy and wonder our teams feel in bringing it to life,โ Lee added. โEvery year, we dive into uncharted waters โ discovering new stories, pushing creative limits, and celebrating the awe-inspiring world of sharks with fresh eyes. This time, the sharks arenโt just circling โ theyโre dancing.โ
Experts have also shared their fair share of criticism about the annual special over the years, claiming that the programming prioritizes sensational content over science.

Programming will also include an episode of โIn the Eye of the Stormโ that follows first responders as they deal with several shark attacks in Florida and โExpedition Unknown: Shark Files,โ which investigates shark mysteries.
