Viu and TrueVisions Now are launching a content collaboration that brings a curated slate of premium Thai series to Viu users across Southeast Asia, with a branded zone debuting Aug. 20 in Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines.
The zone opens with six series pulled from TrueVisions Nowโs catalogue, with the roster expected to expand in subsequent phases. Viewers can reach the new zone through either of Viuโs viewing options, the ad-supported free tier or the paid subscription tier, across the appโs supported devices.
For TrueVisions Now, the tie-up represents its first move into regional content distribution outside its home market, with both companies pointing to a shared push to widen access to quality entertainment from across Asia. The pairing lets Viuโs footprint across Southeast Asia carry TrueVisions Nowโs expanding library to new audiences in the region.
The branded zone will launch with six series. They include the comedy โA Sample Family,โ starring Puak Pongsathorn Jongwilas, Cris Horwang and Neen Neenara Boonnithipaisit, in which a struggling family secretly settles into a lavish show house and fabricates a picture of online perfection to help their daughter land a spot at an international school; the rom-com โOops! Iโm the Concubine,โ starring Emma Panisara Yang and Peterpan Tadsapon Wiwitawan, about a modern woman transported to an earlier era who must learn to adapt rather than resist her new circumstances; and the rom-com โMy Wifeโs Gunslinger God,โ starring Aom Sushar Manaying and Mew Suppasit Jongcheveevat, following a secretive gamer who agrees to a yearlong marriage of convenience with her first love, aiming to win him over before time runs out.
Also included are the comedy โThe Cops Spy on Stage,โ starring Nichamon Kham-in, Atchariya Sritha and Somchai Saiutha, centered on a young police officer who assembles a makeshift squad to revisit a case connected to his fatherโs history, turning the covert assignment into a blend of comedy and danger; the horror-drama โMui Fei The Medium,โ starring Pat Chayanit Chansangavej and Offroad Kantapon Jindataweepol, about a young medium who returns as a vengeful spirit after surviving human trafficking; and the romance โTo Love and Cherish,โ starring Film Thanapat Kawila and Bua Nalinthip Sakulongampai, about a woman who reunites with her first love years after losing touch.
Viu operates across markets in Asia, the Middle East and South Africa under PCCW Media. TrueVisions Now positions itself as Thailandโs all-in-one platform for sports and entertainment, bringing together streaming partners including Viu, iQIYI and WeTV under its โNowtainmentโ concept.
Janice Lee, CEO of PCCW Media Group and Viu, said: โThai content continues to resonate with viewers across the region, and we are pleased to collaborate with TrueVisions Now to bring more premium series to Viu. The addition strengthens our content offering while expanding opportunities for audiences to discover quality entertainment from across Asia.โ
Ongard Prapakamol, head of TrueVisions and media at True Corporation Plc, said the collaboration marked an important step in expanding the reach of the companyโs content beyond Thailand. โThrough Viuโs regional platform, we look forward to introducing our series to new viewers in Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines,โ he said. โIt also highlights the growing influence of Thai creative talent and culture across the region.โ
