Abu Dhabi-based Orbitworks is preparing its first satellite for launch, a milestone the company says is critical to building credibility in the UAE’s emerging satellite manufacturing industry.
Acting CEO and Executive Director Hamdullah Mohib speaks with Dan Murphy about the company’s operations in Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi, its planned 10-satellite, AI-enabled Altair Earth observation constellation and the challenge of proving UAE-assembled satellites can operate successfully in orbit.
Mohib says Orbitworks currently imports the components used in its satellites while carrying out engineering, assembly and testing in Abu Dhabi.
