The “Ted Lasso” team is officially kicking off Season 4.
On July 21, Apple TV+ shared an Instagram video of the Emmy-winning show’s co-creator and star Jason Sudeikis reuniting with cast mates Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple and Jeremy Swift to shoot a scene for its highly anticipated fourth season.
The video opens with a crew member snapping a director’s clapboard. “Rolling!” someone calls out as the four actors sit in an American-style diner booth.
Waddingham and Temple exchange quick smiles just before someone yells, “Action!”
All four actors then make sounds of joy as they munch on the foods on their plate as the scene fades to black.
“This is so good!” Temple can be heard saying as the words “Season 4 now in production” flash onscreen along with the “Ted Lasso” logo.
Apple TV+ captioned the clip, “We’re not in Richmond anymore. Ted Lasso Season 4 is now in production,” followed by several hashtags.
In a press release the same day, the streaming service shared details about the upcoming season, including the fact that Ted (Sudekikis) will now be coaching a women’s soccer team.
“Ted returns to Richmond, taking on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second division women’s football team. Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would,” the release said.
Cast members Brett Goldstein and Brendan Hunt are also returning for Season 4. They’ll be joined by newcomers Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey and Abbie Hern. Child actor Grant Feely will replace Gus Turner as Ted’s son, Henry, the release said.
Principal photography for Season 4 is underway in Sudeikis’ hometown of Kansas City, Missouri, with additional filming set to take place in London, Apple TV+ said.
Sudeikis confirmed the “Ted Lasso” gang would reunite for a fourth season during a guest appearance on the March 14 episode of Jason and Travis Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast.
“We’re writing Season 4 now,” the star said at the time.
Sudeikis’ confirmation came two years after the show’s third season premiered.
Variety reported in August 2024 that Season Four of “Ted Lasso” had gotten a green light after Warner Bros. Television “picked up the options on original cast members Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein and Jeremy Swift.”
The publication added at the time that it was “believed” that Sudeikis would be “involved in the revival in some capacity as an executive producer.”
