‘Spider-Man,’ ‘The Odyssey’ Resume Tussle At U.K., Ireland Box Office


Sonyโ€™s superhero tentpole โ€œSpider-Man: Brand New Dayโ€ dominated the U.K. and Ireland box office for a third consecutive weekend, adding ยฃ6.1 million ($8.3 million), elevating its running total to $106.5 million after 20 days of release.

Universalโ€™s epic โ€œThe Odysseyโ€ held onto second place in its fifth frame. Directed by Christopher Nolan, the wide release collected $5 million, driving its cume to $93.4 million.

Warner Bros.โ€™ โ€œThe End of Oak Street,โ€ starring Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor, arrived in third place with an opening weekend of $2.8 million. Trafalgar Releasing claimed fourth spot with the wide event cinema launch of music doc โ€œKatseye: Wild Hearts,โ€ which banked $981,457 in its debut frame.

Paramountโ€™s โ€œPaw Patrol: The Dino Movieโ€ moved to fifth position in its second weekend, adding ยฃ$940,306 for a cumulative total of $4.3 million. Disney took sixth place with โ€œToy Story 5,โ€ which added ยฃ$714,080 in its ninth frame to lift its running total to $74.7 million.

Universalโ€™s โ€œMinions & Monstersโ€ followed in seventh position in its seventh week, generating $546,233 to push its cume to $23.2 million. A24 secured eighth place with the debut of Matt Johnsonโ€™s Anthony Bourdain film โ€œTony,โ€ starring Dominic Sessa and Antonio Banderas, taking $544,524.

Disneyโ€™s live-action โ€œMoanaโ€ took ninth spot in its sixth week of release, collecting $441,419 to raise its running total to $17.2 million. TGS Cinemas Limited rounded out the top 10 with the launch of Indian drama โ€œVishwanath & Sons,โ€ which generated an opening frame of $378,751.

Looking ahead to the upcoming theatrical frame, rollouts began with Source Entertainment releasing Chris Atkinsโ€™ music documentary โ€œJames: Getting Away with Itโ€ across more than 100 locations.

Wide commercial openings across 300+ locations include horror sequel โ€œInsidious: Out of the Further,โ€ distributed by Sony, Studiocanalโ€™s Jason Statham vehicle โ€œMutiny,โ€ and Black Bearโ€™s comedy โ€œSpa Weekend.โ€

Debuts also include Altitudeโ€™s long-awaited โ€œCoyote vs. Acme,โ€ Mubiโ€™s โ€œTeenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma,โ€ Iconโ€™s โ€œ& Sons,โ€ Universalโ€™s โ€œStop! That! Train!,โ€ and Vue Lumiereโ€™s โ€œDavid.โ€

Repertory screenings feature Park Circus re-releasing the 30th anniversary restoration of Danny Boyleโ€™s โ€œTrainspottingโ€ alongside Aardmanโ€™s animated comedy โ€œEarly Man.โ€ Anime Ltd is re-releasing a restored version of Miyazaki Hayaoโ€™s 1989 masterpiece โ€œKikiโ€™s Delivery Service.โ€
