โSouth Parkโ threw one final jab at President Donald Trump Sunday night as the show celebrated its Emmy win for Outstanding Animated Program.
The official โSouth Parkโ X account posted a graphic of Trump with his pants and underwear around his ankles, holding an Emmy award triumphantly in the air. The post was captioned, โCongratulations to Trey Parker, Matt Stone, and the entire South Park team on their Emmy win for Outstanding Animated Program!โ
In the photo, โYou finally got your Emmyโ is written above Trumpโs head. This is most likely a knock at the presidentโs track record with the TV Academy honor. Trump was nominated twice at the Emmys for โThe Apprentice,โ receiving nods for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program in 2004 and 2005. He lost both times.
Trump was the main antagonist in โSouth Parkโ Season 27 and Season 28. After a two-year hiatus, Season 27 exploded onto Comedy Central with one of the most explicit and politically charged episodes in the seriesโ history. It showed Trump in bed with his lover and the future father of his child, Satan, and the grand finale was a PSA starring a deep-faked, naked Trump wandering through the desert. It ended with a scathing presidential slogan: โTrump: His penis is teeny-tiny, but his love for us is large.โ
Series creator Trey Parker addressed the political angle in an interview with The New York Times. He explained that they put Trump in โSouth Parkโ not because โwe got all political,โ but instead because โpolitics became pop culture.โ
โItโs like the government is just in your face everywhere you look,โ Parker said. โWhether itโs the actual government or whether it is all the podcasters and the TikToks and the YouTubes and all of that, and itโs just all political and political because itโs more than political. Itโs pop culture.โ
