Reggie Watts’ Theme Song Axed From ‘Comedy Bang Bang’ Podcast

Reggie Wattsโ€™ โ€œComedy Bang Bangโ€ theme song was cut from Mondayโ€™s episode of the popular podcast following a Rolling Stone report that alleged the comedian and musician has exhibited โ€œreckless and selfishโ€ behavior regarding drugs in his past relationships.

The story, which was published on Thursday, alleges that Wattsโ€™ late ex-girlfriend, Katherine McCollough, developed a ketamine addiction while dating him (Watts has been a longtime advocate for the drug). Their relationship ended in October 2025 after McCollough experienced a drug-induced manic episode that summer, and in March of this year, McCollough traveled to Peru to take her own life. In a statement to Rolling Stone, Wattsโ€™ attorney Andrew Brettler called the claims โ€œdangerously falseโ€ and said it was a โ€œpreconceived narrativeโ€ to suggest that he was responsible for her suicide.

Watts โ€” known for starring in the TV version of โ€œComedy Bang Bangโ€ from 2012 to 2016 before becoming the bandleader for James Cordenโ€™s โ€œLate Late Showโ€ โ€” penned the theme song for the Scott Aukerman-hosted podcast, which began airing as a radio show in 2009. The song was played before last weekโ€™s episode on Aug. 17, but is not present in Mondayโ€™s installment featuring Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein of โ€œPortlandiaโ€ fame.

Representatives for Watts, โ€œComedy Bang Bangโ€ and Aukerman did not immediately respond to Varietyโ€˜s request for comment.

In addition to the allegations surrounding McCollough, the Rolling Stone report contains claims from five women who previously dated Watts and allege a pattern of โ€œreckless and selfishโ€ behavior regarding drugs in their relationships. Two women alleged that their relationships with Watts were โ€œemotionally and psychologically abusive.โ€

McColloughโ€™s family and friends told Rolling Stone that her drug consumption โ€œdrastically increasedโ€ while dating Watts and became a โ€œcentralโ€ part of their relationship. In his statement, Wattsโ€™ lawyer said that McCollough was already an โ€œexperiencedโ€ drug user and did not need โ€œany so-called โ€˜encouragement,’โ€ and added that any suggestion of Watts being an โ€œabusiveโ€ boyfriend was false.

Those close to McCollough โ€œfirmly believe that if McCollough had never met Watts, had he not pushed his extreme views on psychedelics and substances on her and had McCollough not adopted those views, that sheโ€™d still be alive today,โ€ the Rolling Stone report states.
