Nearly three decades after Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman first cast their spell as the Owens sisters, โPractical Magicโ is getting a little extra sparkle.
The Los Angeles-based jewelry brand Awe Inspired has teamed with Warner Bros. Pictures on a new fine jewelry collection inspired by โPractical Magic 2,โ the upcoming sequel to the 1998 cult favorite. The collection launches Aug. 20, ahead of the filmโs Sept. 11 theatrical release.
The collaboration pulls directly from the franchiseโs witchy iconography, turning ravens, spell books, belladonna, dandelions and other symbols from the Owens family mythology into necklaces, rings, earrings and charms.
Among the standout pieces is a Belladonna Potion Vial Pendant, inspired by the poisonous plant that has long figured into the โPractical Magicโ universe, alongside a Belladonna Crystal Charm Collector Necklace. Elsewhere, Deathwatch Beetle pendants and rings come set with lapis, tigerโs eye and lab-grown purple stones, while Verbena Botanicals necklaces and bracelets and Dandelion Dangle Earrings take inspiration from the herbs and flowers traditionally associated with protection, wishes and spirit communication.
โโPractical Magicโ was one of the first films to treat feminine intuition as power rather than ornament,โ Awe Inspired co-founder and CEO Max Johnson said in a statement. โTranslating that mythology into pieces women actually wear was the most natural collaboration weโve stepped into.โ
The sequel, based on Alice Hoffmanโs 2021 novel โThe Book of Magic,โ brings Bullock and Kidman back as Sally and Gillian Owens, alongside returning stars Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest. Joey King and Maisie Williams are among the franchise newcomers. The original โPractical Magic,โ adapted from Hoffmanโs 1995 novel, was released in 1998.
