‘Practical Magic 2’ Casts a Spell Over U.K., Ireland Box Office


Warner Bros.โ€™ โ€œPractical Magic 2โ€ cast a winning spell over the U.K. and Ireland box office, dethroning โ€œSpider-Man: Brand New Dayโ€ after a six-week reign to claim the top spot with an opening weekend of ยฃ2.7 million ($3.7 million).

Disney followed closely in second position with the cinema rollout of โ€œOasis: Donโ€™t Look Back in Anger,โ€ which captured $3.5 million across its debut frame. 20th Century Foxโ€™s thriller โ€œPressureโ€ rounded out the new release trio at the summit, taking third place with $2.7 million.

Universalโ€™s โ€œThe Odysseyโ€ held firm in fourth place during its ninth week on release, collecting $1.2 million. The tentpole pushed its cume to $114.3 million.

Sonyโ€™s superhero juggernaut โ€œSpider-Man: Brand New Dayโ€ moved to fifth position in its seventh frame, generating $1.1 ,illion. The blockbusterโ€™s running total reached $132.7 million, overtaking โ€œSpider-Man: No Way Home,โ€ โ€œAvatar,โ€ and โ€œNo Time to Dieโ€ to claim the No. 3 spot on the all-time U.K. and Ireland box office chart, trailing only โ€œStar Wars: The Force Awakensโ€ and โ€œSkyfall.โ€

Signature Entertainmentโ€™s survival sequel โ€œFall 2โ€ opened in sixth place with $648,421. โ€œInsidious: Out of the Further,โ€ distributed by Sony, followed in seventh position in its fourth week, adding $619,084 to raise its running total to $9.9 million.

Entertainment Film Distributorsโ€™ action thriller โ€œRunner,โ€ starring Alan Ritchson and Owen Wilson, bowed in eighth place with $517,727. Paramount landed the ninth spot with the 45th anniversary 4K re-issue of โ€œRaiders of the Lost Ark,โ€ which grossed $326,263. Altitude Film Distributionโ€™s โ€œCoyote vs. Acmeโ€ rounded out the top 10 in its fourth frame, collecting $188,463 to push its cume to $2.6 million.

Looking ahead to the upcoming theatrical frame, rollouts begin mid-week with Seventh Art Productionsโ€™ โ€œExhibition On Screen: James McNeill Whistler 2026,โ€ followed Move Over Productionsโ€™ documentary โ€œThe Route to Cappyness.โ€

Wide commercial openings on Friday across 300+ locations are led by โ€œResident Evil,โ€ distributed by Sony, and Paramountโ€™s โ€œBad Apples,โ€ starring Saoirse Ronan.

Releases also include Screenbound Picturesโ€™ music documentary โ€œ50 Years of Punk,โ€ Entertainmeny Film Distributorsโ€™ โ€œDe Gaulle: Part 2 โ€“ Libertรฉ,โ€ Aardmanโ€™s โ€œShaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom,โ€ from Studiocanal, Dogwoofโ€™s โ€œThe Cycle of Love,โ€ Curzonโ€™s โ€œQueen at Sea,โ€ Other Partiesโ€™ โ€œBarrio Triste,โ€ Sonorous Filmsโ€™ โ€œPremature,โ€ Shane Oโ€™Sullivanโ€™s documentary โ€œThe Watergate Caper: Richard Nixon and the Death of the American Dream,โ€ from E2 Films, Mubiโ€™s โ€œPulp: What Do You Do For An Encore?โ€ and Anime Ltdโ€™s โ€œWhisper of the Heart.โ€ The weekend concludes on Saturday with the event cinema broadcast of โ€œTwenty Years of the Met in Cinemas: An Anniversary Celebrationโ€ from Trafalgar Releasing.
