Mark Ruffalo Tells Kevin O’Leary to STFU After Billie Eilish Criticism

Billie Eilishโ€˜s anti-ICE Grammys speech has set off a firestorm of controversy over the past few days as social media users weigh in on her comments. The latest salvo comes from Mark Ruffalo, who told โ€œMarty Supremeโ€ star and โ€œShark Tankโ€ host Kevin Oโ€™Leary on Threads โ€œWhy donโ€™t you STFU.โ€

โ€œItโ€™s hilarious,โ€ Ruffaloโ€™s post continued. โ€œYou will go on any show and talk shit about any number of things and smugly expect us to listen to you, but you will dig into a real artist that dwarfs anything you dream of doing for actually saying something that resonates with 100โ€™s of millions of people the world over. Itโ€™s astounding the fantasy double standard Kevin Oโ€™Leary lives in. You played yourself well in Marty Supreme.โ€

In โ€œMarty Supreme,โ€ Oโ€™Leary plays a ruthless businessman who finances Marty Mauserโ€™s ping pong career while humiliating him in grotesque ways.

Ruffalo was responding to Oโ€™Learyโ€™s recent criticism of Eilishโ€™s Grammys speech on Fox News. โ€œItโ€™s the first lesson 101 for celebrity: as you rise up, whether youโ€™re a film star or music star or whatever, shut your mouth, and just entertain,โ€ Oโ€™Leary said.

At Sundayโ€™s Grammy awards, Eilish accepted her Grammy for song of the year with a speech that has riled up conservatives. โ€œAs grateful as I feel, I honestly donโ€™t feel like I need to say anything but that no one is illegal on stolen land,โ€ she said. โ€œItโ€™s just really hard to know what to say and what to do right now, and I feel really hopeful in this room, and I feel like we just need to keep fighting and speaking up and protesting, and our voices really do matter, and the people matter, and fuck ICE.โ€

On Wednesday, her brother Finneas came to her defense, saying on Threads, โ€œSeeing a lot of very powerful old white men outraged about what my 24-year-old sister said during her acceptance speech.โ€
