Katseye’s Sophia to Sit Out European Tour to ‘Focus on Her Well-Being’

Katseye member Sophia Laforteza will not be joining the group for the U.K. and European dates of their upcoming “Wildworld” tour, which is scheduled to launch on Tuesday.

In a statement posted to social media, Katseye‘s label said that Laforteza is committed to “focusing on her well-being” after announcing her temporary hiatus from the group in early August. “The company remains fully committed to providing her with all the support and resources needed,” reads the statement. “Sophia will not be participating in THE WILDWORLD TOUR in Europe and the UK scheduled from September 1 through September 17.”

The message continues, “We sincerely ask for EYEKONS’ warm understanding, as our highest priority will always be the health and long-term well-being of our artists. We will share further updates as they become available. Please continue to send your love, warmth, and support to Sophia and KATSEYE.”

Several hours after the official announcement was made, Laforteza posted on her Instagram Story, apologizing for missing the tour and saying that she’s been in “ongoing treatment”:

“I can’t express enough how much i want to participate in this tour and perform for you all,” it reads in part. “I have to remind myself every day that our health and mental well-being should always be prioritized… I’ve been in ongoing treatment and doing everything i can to stay healthy, occupied and happy. You can’t pour from an empty cup.”

This marks yet another wrinkle for Katseye, which has had a series of swings throughout the year. In February, just after they performed at the Grammys, member Manon Bannerman announced that she would be taking a temporary hiatus from Katseye to “focus on her health and wellbeing.” Earlier this month, Laforteza announced that she would be following suit so that she could prioritize her “mental health and wellness.” Then, just days before Olivia Rodrigo’s Daisy Chain Fields Festival, where they were slated to perform, the group dropped out of the lineup, citing member Megan Skiendiel’s ankle injury as the reason for their absence.

Amid it all, Katseye has continued to soar as a pop force, earning their first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 with “Wild” in August. The “Wildworld” tour is slated to kick off on Tuesday at Dublin’s 3Arena, with stops planned for Paris, Amsterdam and Copenhagen. Katseye will head back to the States for an extensive leg in North America beginning on October 13 at Miami’s Kaseya Center.
