Katseye’s Manon to Take Temporary Hiatus From the Group

Katseye has announced that member Manon Bannerman will be taking a temporary hiatus to โ€œfocus on her health and wellbeing.โ€

The group, which was recently nominated for best new artist at the Grammys, posted a statement saying that the members collectively discussed Bannermanโ€™s hiatus and โ€œfully support this decision.โ€

โ€œAfter open and thoughtful conversations together, we are sharing that Manon will be taking a temporary hiatus from group activities to focus on her health and wellbeing,โ€ reads the statement. โ€œKatseye remains committed to showing up for one another and for the fans who mean everything to us. The group will continue scheduled activities during this time, and we look forward to being together again when the time is right.โ€

The global girl group, which also includes Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Megan Skiendiel, Sophia Laforteza and Yoonchae Jeung, climbed the ranks as K-pop trainees on the 2023 reality competition series โ€œDream Academy.โ€ Katseye became breakout performers following the Netflix docuseries โ€œPopstar Academy: Katseyeโ€ along with their aptly-titled first single โ€œDebut.โ€

In their time together as a group, theyโ€™ve released a pair of EPs โ€” 2024โ€™s โ€œSIS (Soft Is Strong)โ€ and last yearโ€™s โ€œBeautiful Chaosโ€ โ€” as well as a handful of singles. โ€œGnarly,โ€ which was co-written by Alice Longyu Gao, became their first song to hit the Billboard Hot 100 last year. The sextet followed with โ€œGabriela,โ€ โ€œGameboyโ€ and โ€œInternet Girl,โ€ the latter of which debuted at No. 29 on the chart last month.

Katseye performed โ€œGnarlyโ€ at the Grammy Awards earlier this month. In addition to their best new artist nod, โ€œGabrielaโ€ was nominated for best pop duo/group performance.
