Joe Rogan is the latest industry heavyweight speaking out against Donald Trumpโs repeated attacks against Rob Reiner after the directorโs tragic death. Trump alleged that Reinerโs death was โdue to the anger he caused othersโย from being outspokenly anti-Trump. Reinerโs son, Nick, has been arrested in connection to his parentsโ deaths.
โThe Rob Reiner thing is not funny,โ Rogan said on a recent podcast featuring comedian Shane Gillis (via Entertainment Weekly). โWhen you see it with no empathy, thatโs when itโs hard to like. Listen, thereโs no justification for what he did that makes any sense in a compassionate society. Itโs no different than people that were celebrating when Charlie Kirk got shot. Itโs the same kind of thing.โ
ย โImagine if Obama tweeted something about someone after they died in this way. That this person was a deranged person that hated Obama.โย Rogan continued. โIt just shows you how crazy it is, the way Trump thinks and talks. Itโs just like, the guy got sliced up by his kid, you know? Anybody that doesnโt see that and go, โFuck, man.โโ
Rogan said someone shouldโve taken Trumpโs โfucking phoneโ away from when he decided to weigh in on Reinerโs death and added that he was โso disappointedโ by Trumpโs comments: โItโs so disappointing. Itโs like whyโฆ if you say that privately thatโs one thing, which is also crazy, but itโs so disappointing.โย
Trump made his statement on Reiner in a Truth Social post that read: โA very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood. Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS. He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before. May Rob and Michele rest in peace!โ
Trump doubled down on his criticism of Reiner hours later when asked during a press conference about Republicans condemning his original statement. He responded: โWell, I wasnโt a fan of his at all. He was a deranged person as far as Trump is concernedโฆ I thought he was very bad for our country.โ
The U.S. president was widely condemned by Hollywood for his statements on Reiner. Josh Gadย posted on Threads: โThere is no low that is too low for this fucking psychopath. Rob Reiner was 1000 times the man you are and unlike you, he actually cared about the American people. Go paint your hand on your gold fucking toilet and destroy things like the White House. Thatโs what you do best.โ
Jimmy Kimmelย bashed Trumpย as โhateful and vileโ for going after Reiner after such a tragic death. The late night host added: โWhat we need at a time like this, besides common sense when it comes to guns and mental health care, is compassion and leadership. We did not get that from our president, because he has none of it to give. Instead, we got a fool rambling about nonsense.โ
Whoopi Goldberg on โThe Viewโ condemned Trump and also every Republican staying silent on the matter by saying: โThereโs no justification for him to have written what he wrote. Thereโs no way to justify it and all those Republicans who are quiet, damn you all. Damn you all.โ
