โInsidious: Out of the Furtherโ director Jacob Chase is set to direct the horror project โSleepoverโ for Blumhouse Atomic Monster and Universal Pictures. Described as the โquintessential sleepover nightmare,โ itโs set for an Oct. 8, 2027 theatrical release.
Chase directs from a screenplay co-written with โNight Swimโ screenwriter Bryce McGuire, adapted from McGuireโs original short story.
Blumhouse Atomic Monster also presented Chaseโs โInsidious: Out of the Furtherโ along with Sony. The sixth installment in the โInsidiousโ franchise opened this past weekend to a solid $60 million worldwide. Chase has also directed โCome Playโ and last yearโs โBad Boy.โ
Ahead of the โInsidious: Out of the Furtherโ release, Chase told Variety, โScaring people is kind of like magic โ literally magic tricks โ which is also something I had a real affinity for growing up,โ he says. โItโs all misdirection, right? Itโs figuring out how you can constantly surprise an audience in the way that the best magic tricks do.โ
Jason Blum will produce, while Chase, McGuire and Bea Sequiera serve as executive producers. Lilly Tyson will oversee the project for Blumhouse Atomic Monster.
โSleepoverโ is a Cinescape Entertainment production presented by Universal and Blumhouse Atomic Monster.
Chase is represented by CAA, Gang, Tyre, Ramer, Brown & Passman, and The Initiative Group. McGuire is represented by Gersh and Ziffren Brittenham.
