The local drama โ€œItโ€™s OKโ€ ascended to the number one position at the China box office during the April 10โ€“12 weekend, earning RMB31.0 million ($4.6 million) in its second full weekend, according to data from Artisan Gateway.

Produced by China Film and directed by Yang Lina, the film has now reached a cumulative total of $18.7 million. The story follows Xu Ke, a young woman whose life is upended by her motherโ€™s sudden arrival as she faces a medical emergency, forcing the pair to confront long-standing family tensions.

Universalโ€™s โ€œThe Super Mario Galaxy Movieโ€ moved to second place, adding $3.3 million for a total of $14.7 million.

Columbia Picturesโ€™ โ€œProject Hail Maryโ€ maintained a steady presence in third place, taking in $3 million to push its cumulative total to $33.7 million.

Debuting in fourth place, the horror-thriller โ€œThe Caged Butterflyโ€ earned $2.4 million in its first full weekend. Produced by Ultra Comedy and directed by Hao Han, the film stars Li Meng, Liu Siwei, and Jiang Zhuojun. The story is set within the notorious Butterfly Mansion villa. The plot follows a physiotherapy therapist and a greedy schemer who move into the haunted estate, only to be plagued by bizarre events and a life-or-death game involving a woman in a red dress and a distorted, eyeless boy.

Rounding out the top five, romantic drama โ€œNow I Met Herโ€ earned $1.8 million for a total of $8 million. Produced by Dirty Monkeys and directed by Xiao Luxi, the film stars Sandra Ma and Ke Bai in a story about an 18-year-old who discovers his late motherโ€™s vibrant past through her personal diaries.

The frame represented a notably quiet period for the market, with the total weekend gross of $21 million marking the second-lowest collective take of the year so far.

Mainland Chinaโ€™s 2026 year-to-date revenue stands at $1.84 billion, down 50.1% from the same period in 2025.
