Everyone knows leftovers are the very best part of Thanksgiving. Now, Heinz wants to make it easier than ever to douse your day-after turkey in gravy.
With just one week left before the big day, the brand is launching a new condiment called Leftover Gravy in a convenient squeeze bottle.
Wondering what inspired the new product and how to get your hands on a bottle? Hereโs everything we know.
Yes, Itโs Inspired by a Popular โFriendsโ Episode
Heinz threw it back to a โ90s sitcom while drawing inspiration for its latest innovation.
Fans of โFriendsโ will likely remember the 1998 episode titled โThe One with Rossโs Sandwich.โ In the episode, Monica makes a โMoist Makerโ sandwich filled with leftovers for Ross. A layer of bread soaked in gravy is one of the sandwichโs defining details.
On Nov. 18, Heinz shared a photo of its squeezable gravy on Instagram and captioned the post, โThe One Where HEINZ Makes a Gravy for Leftovers.โ
Social media users had a lot of feelings about the idea, with many expressing their excitement.
โUmm YuM this better be real!โ one commented. Another wrote, โNeed this ๐.โ
One Instagram user weighed in, writing, โThe ultimate sandwich gravy you say, sign me up.โ
But not everyone was sold on the idea. One social media user even called the product โa crime against humanity.โ
Another questioned if it was as good as it sounded, writing, โOk you all think itโs a good idea but has anyone tasted/tried??โ
The Squeezable Gravy Is Already Sold Out
On Nov. 18, Heinz Leftover Gravy made its debut on Walmart.com as part of a limited-edition Heinz Leftover Gravy kit that came with one squeezable bottle of gravy, a jar of Heinz Homestyle Turkey Gravy and a recipe for the โUltimate Thanksgiving Leftovers Sandwich.โ
The kits, which cost $1.88, sold out quickly, but Heinz has plans to add additional kits for sale on Walmart.com throughout the rest of the week.
