HBO is developing a Baldurโs Gate TV show that will continue the story of Larian Studiosโ hit RPG Baldurโs Gate 3, according to Deadline. The Last Of Us co-creator Craig Mazin will serve as the showโs creator, writer, executive producer, and showrunner.
While itโs set to feature new protagonists, the plan is for existing characters from the game to return, and Mazin plans to reach out to cast members from Baldurโs Gate 3 with โideas for them to participate in the TV adaptation and ways that would make that possible,โ Deadline says. (I hope the whole main cast returns because theyโre all so great.)
Itโs unclear when this new Baldurโs Gate series might debut. Larian isnโt involved in the series, Geoff Keighley reports.
โAfter putting nearly 1000 hours into the incredible world of Baldurโs Gate 3, it is a dream come true to be able to continue the story that Larian and Wizards of The Coast created,โ Mazin said to Deadline. โI am a devoted fan of D&D and the brilliant way that Swen Vincke and his gifted team adapted it.โ (Mazin has even completed the game in its super-hard Honour Mode, the article says.)
Mazin is also still working on the third season of The Last of Us, which may be its last. The showโs other co-creator, Naughty Dogโs Neil Druckmann, announced last year that he would be stepping away from the series to focus on the studioโs games.
