Finneas Defends Billie Eilish’s Grammy Speech from ‘Old White Men’

Finneas took to Instagram Threads on Wednesday to defend his superstar sister and songwriting partner, Billie Eilish, from โ€œvery powerful old white menโ€ who are โ€œoutragedโ€ about her Grammys acceptance speech.

โ€œSeeing a lot of very powerful old white men outraged about what my 24-year-old sister said during her acceptance speech,โ€ he wrote. โ€œWe can literally see your names in the Epstein files.โ€

After her track โ€œWildflowerโ€ won song of the year at the 2026 Grammys, Eilish declared โ€œfuck ICEโ€ in her acceptance speech. Finneas joined Eilish on stage while she accepted the award.

โ€œI feel so honored every time I get to be in this room,โ€ she said. โ€œAs grateful as I feel, I honestly donโ€™t feel like I need to say anything but that no one is illegal on stolen land. And, yeah, itโ€™s just really hard to know what to say and what to do right now, and I feel really hopeful in this room, and I feel like we just need to keep fighting and speaking up and protesting, and our voices really do matter, and the people matter, and fuck ICE. Thatโ€™s all Iโ€™m going to say. Sorry. Thank you so much.โ€

Eilish was among the many artists to use their Grammys platform to promote social and political reform. The most commanding example was Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny, who said โ€œICE outโ€ to resounding applause after winning best mรบsica urbana album with โ€œDeBร TiRAR MรกS FOToS.โ€

โ€œBefore I say thanks to God, Iโ€™m going to say ICE out,โ€ he said. โ€œWeโ€™re not savage, weโ€™re not animals, weโ€™re not aliens. We are humans and we are Americans. Also, I will say to people, I know itโ€™s tough to know not to hate on these days and I was thinking sometimes, we get contaminados [contaminated], I donโ€™t know how to say that in English. The hate gets more powerful with more hate. The only thing that is more powerful than hate is love. So please, we need to be different. If we fight, we have to do it with love. We donโ€™t hate them. We love our people. We love our family, and thatโ€™s the way to do it. With love. Donโ€™t forget that please. Thank you.โ€
