Caleb Flynn, a former contestant on โAmerican Idol,โ was found guilty of murdering his wife in their Ohio home. A jury deliberated for around two hours on Tuesday and convicted him on all nine counts that he faced of of murder, assault and tampering with evidence.
On the morning of Monday, Feb. 16, Ashley Flynn, 37, was found dead in the coupleโs Ohio home in Tipp City. Caleb, 40, called 911 around 2:30 a.m. and said that someone had broken into their home and shot Ashley, who was pronounced dead at the scene. According to local outlets, Caleb told police that he didnโt see anybody in the home, but his garage door was open. Police reportedly found a side door to the garage that was open and that there was fridge in front of the door that wouldโve needed to be pushed to open it. Caleb was booked into the Miami County Jail on the following Thursday.
โWhile the defendant told law enforcement that he was sleeping, his electronic devices documented something different. They documented movement and activity in the hours leading up to Ashleyโs murder,โ said Matthew C. Joseph, assistant prosecuting attorney for the Miami County Prosecuting Attorneyโs Office said in his closing argument. โThe defendant said he was sleeping. His devices say he was awake and moving.โ
The attorney added, โBeing the victim allowed him to do that without being the husband who left his wife for a mistress. Instead, heโd be the husband whose wife was tragically murdered by an unknown intruder.โ
Caleb was a contestant on โAmerican Idolโ in 2013. In 2013, he said in his โRoad to Hollywoodโ interview on โAmerican Idolโ that he was a music pastor and that his wife encouraged him to audition for the singing competition show. โI absolutely love the lord and I love my wife more than anything,โ he said in his interview. โShe is very, very pretty. I love her. Iโm just a normal person who absolutely loves to sing more than anything in the world.โ
