Dolly Parton Streams Surge on Spotify With 2,320% Increase in U.S.


Dolly Partonโ€™s music has significantly surged on Spotify following her death on Tuesday, with total streams increasing over 1,260% globally and 2,320% in the United States compared to the prior seven-day daily average.

The country icon saw substantial boosts across her catalog after her death was announced. โ€œJoleneโ€ increased 630% globally and 1,225% in the U.S., compared to the prior seven-day daily average, while โ€œ9 to 5โ€ increased 620% globally and 1,030% in the U.S. and โ€œIslands in the Streamโ€ increased 525% globally and 1,235% in the United States. โ€œJoleneโ€ was the most-shared Parton song on Spotify, followed by โ€œI Will Always Love Youโ€ and โ€œIslands in the Stream.โ€

Additionally, seven songs broke into Spotifyโ€™s Daily Top Songs USA chart, with โ€œJoleneโ€ and โ€œ9 to 5โ€ entering for the first time at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively. โ€œJoleneโ€ received 1.29 million streams, while โ€œ9 to 5โ€ received 1.13 million streams. On that same chart, โ€œIslands in the Streamโ€ reentered at No. 8 (885,000), followed by โ€œI Will Always Love Youโ€ at No. 15 (688,000), โ€œHere You Come Againโ€ at No. 28 (566,000), โ€œCoat of Many Colorsโ€ (516,000) at No. 34 and โ€œTyrantโ€ at No. 189.

Partonโ€™s family announced her death on Tuesday. Representatives for the singer revealed that she died after a โ€œbrief battleโ€ with cancer at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville.
