The country icon saw substantial boosts across her catalog after her death was announced. โJoleneโ increased 630% globally and 1,225% in the U.S., compared to the prior seven-day daily average, while โ9 to 5โ increased 620% globally and 1,030% in the U.S. and โIslands in the Streamโ increased 525% globally and 1,235% in the United States. โJoleneโ was the most-shared Parton song on Spotify, followed by โI Will Always Love Youโ and โIslands in the Stream.โ
Additionally, seven songs broke into Spotifyโs Daily Top Songs USA chart, with โJoleneโ and โ9 to 5โ entering for the first time at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively. โJoleneโ received 1.29 million streams, while โ9 to 5โ received 1.13 million streams. On that same chart, โIslands in the Streamโ reentered at No. 8 (885,000), followed by โI Will Always Love Youโ at No. 15 (688,000), โHere You Come Againโ at No. 28 (566,000), โCoat of Many Colorsโ (516,000) at No. 34 and โTyrantโ at No. 189.
Partonโs family announced her death on Tuesday. Representatives for the singer revealed that she died after a โbrief battleโ with cancer at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville.
