David Jonsson Joins Gracie Abrams in A24’s ‘Please’ Halina Reijn

“Babygirl” writer/director Halina Reijn is continuing to expand the cast for her next film with A24, this time adding a BAFTA winner into the mix.

David Jonsson, who won the BAFTA Rising Star award in 2025 for his breakout turns in “Rye Lane” and “Alien: Romulus,” has joined “Please,” which reunites Reijn with A24 for a third time.

Jonsson joins the already announced Gracie Abrams, the Grammy-nominee making her acting debut, plus “Heated Rivalry” star Connor Storrie and Jonsson’s fellow British actor Tom Burke.

Plot details for “Please” are currently being kept under wraps, but like her satirical slasher “Bodies Bodies Bodies” and erotic thriller “Babygirl,” which became one of A24’s most successful titles earning $64 million globally, Reijn is again set to write and direct.

David Hinojosa will produce, re-teaming with Reijn for the third time. Reijn is producing through her MAN UP Film banner, with A24 also producing and financing. Zach Nutman will executive produce.

“Please” marks the next step in a growing library for the increasingly in-demand Jonsson. Last year he earned praise for dystopian survival thriller “The Long Walk,” based on the Stephen King novel, and fronted the well-received Brit indie prison thriller “Wasteman” alongside Tom Blyth, which bowed in Toronto. He also exec produced “Wasteman” alongside Sophie Glibber, with whom he set up the production company greyarea.

Upcoming projects for Jonsson include Colman Domingo’s directorial debut “Scandalous,” playing Sammy Davis Jnr opposite Sydney Sweeney as Kim Novak. He’s also reuniting with his “The Long Walk” co-star Cooper Hoffman in Plan B’s “Chaperones” from India Donaldson, and will star in a lead role in Frank Ocean’s as-yet-untitled debut feature.

Jonsson is represented by United Agents, CAA, and Granderson Des Rochers.
