Coldplay Says Post About โ€˜Camera-Free Audience Sectionsโ€™ for ‘Sidepieces’ Is Fake

Coldplay says a now-viral post on X informing fans it will offer special sections for concertgoers who are cheating on their significant others is not real.

โ€œStarting with our next show, weโ€™re introducing camera-free audience sections for people and their sidepieces,โ€ read a screenshot of an alleged post that appeared to be from the bandโ€™s official X account.

โ€œA thoughtful decision by Coldplay,โ€ wrote an X user who shared the alleged post.

A representative for the band has confirmed with TODAY.com that the post is fake.

Coldplay found itself in the center of a storm when a camera panned to a couple in an embrace during a show on its โ€œMusic of the Spheres World Tourโ€ at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on July 16, prompting frontman Chris Martin to say, โ€œEither theyโ€™re having an affair or theyโ€™re just very shy.โ€

The moment quickly went viral as people investigated what the man and woman were doing at the show. Coldplay has not commented on the matter.

Coldplayโ€™s tour continues July 19 at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin.
