Chris Noth took to Instagram on Wednesday to calm the buzz surrounding a comment he made on an earlier post that appeared to endorse a fanโs take-down of his former โSex and the Cityโ co-star Sarah Jessica Parker.
โMy off-the-cuff slightly sarcastic response to a comment on the internet seems to have caused a tempest in a teapot,โ Noth wrote. โIt is not news. It is not worth all this discussion. It is a waste of time in a world where there are more important things to worry about.โ
The drama for Noth began after he posted a gym selfie on Jan. 9 with the caption, โFuck new years โ LETโS GO!!!!โ A fan then replied, โYou mean fโ sjp & her award right? lol,โ in reference to Parker receiving the Golden Globesโ Carol Burnett Award. Noth replied to that comment, โRight.โ
In Dec. 2021, Noth was accused of sexual assault by two women. Speaking under pseudonyms, Zoe, a member of the entertainment industry, told The Hollywood Reporter she was assaulted by Noth in 2004 in Los Angeles. Lilly, who identified as a journalist, told the outlet she was assaulted by Noth in 2015 in New York City. Noth called the allegations โcategorically falseโ in a prepared statement.
In the wake of the allegations, Noth was dropped from โThe Equalizerโ and the โSex and the Cityโ sequel series โAnd Just Like That.โ In a joint statement, Parker and her โSex and the Cityโ co-stars Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis said, โWe are deeply saddened to hear the allegations against Chris Noth. We support the women who have come forward and shared their painful experiences. We know it must be a very difficult thing to do and we commend them for it.โ
