Known for her flowing blond locks, Carrie Underwood is switching things up.
The โBefore He Cheatsโ singer, 42, has revealed sheโs returned to her natural hair color. Underwood sported the blond-brown hair in an Instagram post on Aug. 4.
โWell, the last time I saw my natural hair color, I was probably about 12 years old, but I thought it might be time to give it a second chance,โ she captioned a pair of photos and a video of her rocking the new color.
Underwood, who rocketed to fame after winning the fourth season of โAmerican Idolโ in 2005, also thanked Nashville-based hairstylist Katelin Megert for โhelping me get back to my roots,โ before ending the post with the hash tags #NewOldMe and #Bronde.
People on social media expressed their approval of the new color.
โSo pretty!!!!!โ commented Candace Cameron Bure.
โLove it!โ wrote Kristin Chenoweth.
โWOW ๐ฅ,โ wrote Breanna Nix, who competed on the most recent season of โAmerican Idol,โ which featured Underwood as a judge.
โYaaass love this color ๐๐๐โ Nixโs fellow โAmerican Idolโ contestant Amanda Barise wrote.
โGirl! What a rich and luxurious cut, highlights/lowlights,โฆ.you wear it well!!!โ another fan raved.
โThis looks so good on you!โ gushed someone else.
Underwood’s blond hair has been as much of a staple as her hitting the hardest notes.
โIโd love to do a little more with hair color. Iโve always been blonde!โ she told Refinery29 in 2012.
โThe problem is, I donโt want to shock people โ like if I dyed my hair brown, I donโt want people think Iโm turning dark and serious. I wish I had started changing my hair around in the beginning, then it wouldnโt be such a big shock if I did something like that now.โ
Underwood, who shares sons Isaiah, 10, and Jacob, 6, with husband Mike Fisher, had previously gone shorter with her hair length, explaining her family was the impetus for the decision.
โCutting my hair was a โmomโ move,โ she told Elle in 2016 after Isaiah was born. โI could spend half an hour to blow it dry and have it be super long, or I could spend that time playing with my son, and Iโd much rather do the latter.โ
