‘All Her Fault’ Emmy Noms Put Peacock on the Map in Scripted Awards

Peacock finally landed a major scripted series program nomination at the Emmys this year, and it’s “All Her Fault.”

The NBCUniversal streamer has already won two outstanding reality competition series Emmys for “The Traitors,” and plenty of noms in categories like outstanding TV movie (“Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy” in 2025). But “All Her Fault” finally gave Peacock the breakthrough it had been looking for: seven Emmy nominations this year, including outstanding limited or anthology series, outstanding lead limited/anthology actress (Sarah Snook) and outstanding supporting limited/anthology actress (Dakota Fanning).

“This is a big milestone for us at Peacock,” says Pearlena Igbokwe, chairman of television studios, NBC Entertainment & Peacock Scripted. “It just really validates us. In this instance, it wasn’t just like one nomination in one category, it was seven of them. So yeah, when we popped on the scene, we popped on in a big way.”

“All Her Fault” was a tremendous breakthrough for Peacock, which was the platform’s biggest series launch ever; in its first three weeks of availability, the series hit 46 million hours watched. Based on Andrea Mara’s novel, the limited series stars Snook as a mother who must figure out what happened when her young son disappears.

“I was hooked from the very beginning,” Igbokwe says. “It’s every parent’s worst nightmare. I think for women, and especially working women, it really resonated because it speaks to something that doesn’t get spoken about a lot in public, that psychological load that working women carry. Either you don’t feel like you’re being a good enough mother, or you don’t feel like you’re doing a good enough job with your professional life, and you’re being judged on both sides. And then Sarah Snook and Dakota Fanning acted the heck out of their roles.”

Snook, marking her fourth career Emmy nom, says she was “super surprised by the number of nominations. Absolutely stoked for the team and the deserved recognition they all got. To have come out last year, in the earlier stages of the eligibility window, and still be competitive against some amazing other projects is a win already.”

The star also credited creator Megan Gallagher for her depiction of the “mental load” for mothers that Igbokwe was also referencing, “which a lot of women really recognized as reflected in their own households,” Snook adds. “Megan created such a compelling story, with deeply flawed characters and some terrifically twisty cliffhangers.”

Gallagher says she’s still in awe of how “All Her Fault” broke through, and credits Peacock for how it promoted the series: “They really believed in the show, and the team behind it,” she says. “Great creative collaboration and a full commitment from marketing. I couldn’t have asked for anything more … I hope that Peacock feels they’re finally where they deserve to be — firmly in the awards conversation.”

Igbokwe says the success of “All Her Fault” has helped solidify Peacock’s reputation for being a place that leans into female-driven stories, given previous programs like “Apples Never Fall” and current series “The Five-Star Weekend.” But she says she’s also realistic that kudos don’t come easy.

“I can’t say we’re fully in the business only about getting awards and Emmy nominations,” she says. “First and foremost, we have to service our audience and make sure that we’re giving them great entertainment that they really spark to. Is it nice to have the awards love? Sure. But does it diminish how we feel about the shows and the way they perform for the audience? Not necessarily.”

With the success of “All Her Fault” in both viewership and awards, you’d assume Peacock was looking at ways to keep the franchise going as an anthology. But Igbokwe says there’s no plans for “All Her Fault Again.”

“This was a self-contained story,” she says. “It just really felt that to try and contort some other story to fit this mold was not the best idea.”

Peacock is still looking at new projects with Gallagher and “All Her Fault” producers Carnival, including “Break-In,” another family drama centered on a secret. “If we can be half as good as what ‘All Her Fault’ was, I would be happy,” says Igbokwe.
