Adam Levine just added some serious star power to Maroon 5’s upcoming album.
In a recent interview with TODAY.com, the frontman revealed two artists who will be featured on the band’s eighth studio album, “Love Is Like.” Levine shared that rappers Lil Wayne and Sexyy Red will both grace the track list in some capacity.
The news comes after Maroon 5 released their new hit “Priceless,” featuring LISA, on May 2. She was the only artist known to be on the pop rock band’s new album — until now.
“We kind of organically chose some really great guests. We have obviously, Lisa — that everybody knows — so LISA, that one, cat’s out of the bag,” Levine says.
“Lil Wayne did a verse of the song, and Sexyy Red … it’s a nice mix of people, and we’re really excited about the songs we’re doing,” he continues.
Levine first announced the band’s new album on April 7 while appearing on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
Shortly after Levine got settled in his armchair, host Jimmy Fallon surfaced rumors that Maroon 5 has a new song, album and tour coming in the near future.
“I’m going to confirm the rumors are true,” Levine said to a thunderous round of applause from the audience.
A couple of months later, on June 23, Maroon 5 revealed that the album would wear the name “Love Is Like” and would be released on Aug. 15. The band also shared they will be hitting the road on a 23-show tour that kicks off in Phoenix, Arizona, on Oct. 6.
“I’m really excited about the album. Honestly, I can’t wait for people to hear it,” Levine tells TODAY.com. “It’s really different.”
While appearing on TODAY July 9, Levine talked about how their new music aims to “get back to the song-writing aspect” of what made the band who they are from the jump.
“It was one of those things where I feel like we had written songs every which way, and we wanted to get back to what started the band, kind of made us successful in the first place, which was keeping it, more or less, in the band,” Levine said, crediting “amazing producers that help bring it to life.”
