Timothรฉe Chalamet took time to honor his longtime girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, when he took home the Critics Choice Award on Sunday night for his role as aspiring ping-pong champion Marty Mauser in โMarty Supreme.โ
โThank you to my partner for three years. I love you. I couldnโt do this without you,โ he said when accepting the best actor trophy. โThank you from the bottom of my heart.โ
When the camera cut to Jenner, she mouthed โI love youโ in response.
During his speech, the actor also gave a shout-out to his fellow nominees. Chalamet was nominated alongside Leonardo DiCaprio for โOne Battle After Another,โ Joel Edgerton for โTrain Dreams,โ Ethan Hawke for โBlue Moon,โ Michael B. Jordan for โSinnersโ and Wagner Moura for โThe Secret Agent.โ
After hesitating, Chalamet admitted, โIโm more nervous than I thought Iโd be.โ He then went on to thank Josh Safdie, who co-wrote and directed the movie. โYou made a story about a flawed man with a relatable dream, and you didnโt preach to the audience about whatโs right and wrong. I think we should all be telling stories like that,โ he said. โThank you for this dream.โ
Earlier in the night, โHacksโ stars Meg Stalter and Paul W. Downs walked the carpet in matching bright orange vinyl ensembles, paying homage to Jenner and Chalametโs outfits at the premiere of the A24 film.
โMarty Supremeโ premiered on Christmas Day, debuting at No. 3 in North America behind โAvatar: Fire and Ashโ ($64 million) and โZootopia 2โ ($20 million), making $17 million over the traditional weekend.
