Amanda Knox is an author, podcast host, criminal justice reform advocate and, a mom of two.
Knox became a mother in 2021 when she gave birth to her daughter, Eureka, and again in 2023 when she welcomed a son, Echo. She shares both children with her husband, Christopher Robinson.
The 38-year-old told TODAY.com she thought she would be able to wait until her daughter was at least 6 before she would have to tell her the story of how she was wrongfully convicted in her roommate Meredith Kercher’s murder when she was studying abroad in Italy in 2007, but she said her daughter began asking about it at age 3.
โItโs very simple,โ Knox says she told Eureka. โItโs just, when Mommy was young, Mommy went to Italy, and she made friends and she had fun, but then someone hurt her friend, and the police thought Mommy hurt her friend, and so they put Mommy in jail.โ
โAnd Mommy was in jail for a long time, and she was very sad,” she continued. “But then one day, Mommy proved that she was innocent and she got to go home, and then she met your daddy and had you and happily ever after โ she loves it when it ends on her.โ
Knox and Robinson got engaged in 2018 and married in 2020. Their love story, along with their children, is featured in the new Hulu limited series, “The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox,” which premieres on Aug. 20.
Here is everything to know about their two children.
Echo
In August 2023, TODAY.com confirmed that the 36-year-old was pregnant with her second child.
The news came after she posted a photo of herself showing off her growing baby bump in an Instagram photo on Aug. 20. In the snap, Knox sat on an outdoor bench in a polka dot jumpsuit with her belly on full display.
โPregspreading,โ Knox captioned the photo and tagged the Oxford English Dictionary.
During a Nov. 29, 2023, conversation on Knox’s podcast called “Younglings” โ which she shares with Robinson and co-hosts Kylie Pentelow and Brady Haran โ Knox said that she welcomed her son on Sept. 23, 2023.
โThe birth was really, really ideal as far as births go,โ she said during the podcast.
โIt was just me and Chris this time again,โ she explained, adding that she had a great nurse and the entire event felt like she and her husband were โhanging out.โ
โAmanda pushed like three times. She pushed nine times in three contractions … and the third contraction, baby popped out,โ Robinson said before adding, โNothing went wrong.โ
Knox and Robinson confirmed that they’d named their second child Echo.
โHe was perfect,โ Knox said during the episode of his birth before adding that he received a perfect Apgar score, which medical professionals use to assess the health of newborns.
The newborn was so perfect in fact, he was born on Sept. 23, 2023, at 9:23 p.m.
The couple did not share Echo’s middle or last name but did open up about their thought process behind the name.
“When we were thinking of a name for baby number two, we wanted to keep going. We thought we had a really good method we thought Eureka was an awesome name,” she explained.
“We started thinking of what are other exclamations that could potentially be names… So when weโre thinking of like a name for a boy, Echo comes to mind in two ways, because ‘ecco’ in Italian means like ‘behold’ … and you say echo to say “echo, echo, echo.”
Knox shares photos of Echo on her Instagram account, including a photo from February 2025.
“Well, Iโm stuck here because heโs decided my arm is the road for his car,” she captioned the photo.
Eureka Muse Knox-Robinson
In an October 2021ย New York Times article, Knox revealed that she and Robinson welcomed their first child together months prior. At the time, she said she was worried about the โpaparazzi bountyโ on her daughterโs head if she announced the news earlier.
She shared additional details about the birth of their daughter, including her name, on a 2021 episode of the “Labyrinths” podcast hosted by the couple.
In the 2023 episode of “Younglings” in which Knox and Robinson announced the birth of their son, Knox said Eureka was adjusting well to having a sibling, sharing that she has been โsuch a champ.โ
โShe wants to help when I change diapers like she wants to put the cream on as well,โ Knox explained. โSheโs been so sweet.โ
Knox told TODAY.com that becoming a mother has helped change her outlook on what happened to her in Italy.
โI think that Iโve always been amazed, first of all, just by how much being a mom has helped me process this terrible experience,โ she says. โBut also, even just telling this story to her, sometimes my daughter wants to play pretend the story of โMommy goes to Italy.โโ
โSheโll find like, bars at a playground, and be like, โLook, Iโm Mommy in jail.โ And itโs just, like, the shift there โ of, โOh, this is a game.โ Like, itโs not just a horrible, traumatic experience. It can also be a game that me and my daughter can play with each other,โ she continues. โItโs just that lightness of being of a child that really helps me carry the weight of it.โ
While at the time she said she wouldn’t post photos of her daughter, she’s shared peeks at Eureka on her Instagram over the years.
“In town to hear our friendsโ band, Croaker, perform. Went to dance, ended up a mattress,” she captioned a photo from June, adding the hashtagย #momlife and a red heart emoji.
She also posted a photo of her and her daughter sleeping at the Vashon Strawberry Festival outside of Seattle in July, writing in the caption, “We go hard.”
Knox suffered a miscarriage
Prior to welcoming her daughter, Knox revealed she experienced a miscarriage. On her podcast, she shared how she and Robinson conceived quickly after they started trying and began designing a nursery.
However, at their six-week ultrasound appointment, the technician was unable toย find a heartbeat.ย While she was told to return for a second scan, she said, she โknew something was wrong.โ
โI did feel incredibly disappointed that that was the first story of my first-ever pregnancyโฆ. I thought, like, I knew exactly what I want to do with my first pregnancy and to have it not come to fruition, not through choice felt like a betrayal,โ Knox said.
By August of 2021, she would go on to announce that she was pregnant with baby Eureka.
