Known for her flowing blond locks, Carrie Underwood is switching things up.
The “Before He Cheats” singer, 42, has revealed she’s returned to her natural hair color. Underwood sported the blond-brown hair in an Instagram post on Aug. 4.
“Well, the last time I saw my natural hair color, I was probably about 12 years old, but I thought it might be time to give it a second chance,” she captioned a pair of photos and a video of her rocking the new color.
Underwood, who rocketed to fame after winning the fourth season of “American Idol” in 2005, also thanked Nashville-based hairstylist Katelin Megert for “helping me get back to my roots,” before ending the post with the hash tags #NewOldMe and #Bronde.
People on social media expressed their approval of the new color.
“So pretty!!!!!” commented Candace Cameron Bure.
“Love it!” wrote Kristin Chenoweth.
“WOW 🔥,” wrote Breanna Nix, who competed on the most recent season of “American Idol,” which featured Underwood as a judge.
“Yaaass love this color 👏👏👏” Nix’s fellow “American Idol” contestant Amanda Barise wrote.
“Girl! What a rich and luxurious cut, highlights/lowlights,….you wear it well!!!” another fan raved.
“This looks so good on you!” gushed someone else.

Underwood’s blond hair has been as much of a staple as her hitting the hardest notes.
“I’d love to do a little more with hair color. I’ve always been blonde!” she told Refinery29 in 2012.
“The problem is, I don’t want to shock people — like if I dyed my hair brown, I don’t want people think I’m turning dark and serious. I wish I had started changing my hair around in the beginning, then it wouldn’t be such a big shock if I did something like that now.”
Underwood, who shares sons Isaiah, 10, and Jacob, 6, with husband Mike Fisher, had previously gone shorter with her hair length, explaining her family was the impetus for the decision.
“Cutting my hair was a ‘mom’ move,” she told Elle in 2016 after Isaiah was born. “I could spend half an hour to blow it dry and have it be super long, or I could spend that time playing with my son, and I’d much rather do the latter.”
