“Lilo & Stitch” will soon be available to watch at home.
Disneyโs hit live-action remake of its 2002 animated classic will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV and Fandango at Home on July 22 before arriving on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD on Aug. 26, according to a press release.
Both the digital and Blu-Ray releases will feature bonus materials, including deleted scenes, bloopers, a behind-the-scene segment about re-creating the original movie.
The live-action โLilo & Stitchโ debuted in theaters on May 23 and has gone on to become the highest-grossing Hollywood movie so far this year, according to Deadline.
The movie tells the story of Lilo, a lonely young girl in Hawaii (Maia Kealoha) whoโs being raised by her teenage sister, Nani (Sydney Agudong), since their parents died.
When Lilo sees what she believes is a shooting star in the sky, she wishes for a best friend.
Enter Stitch: a runaway extraterrestrial who’s been scientifically engineered to create chaos wherever he goes. When Lilo and Stich meet, he becomes her dog-like sidekick initially as an effort to outfox various agents hoping to capture him.
Lilo and Stitch soon form an unbreakable bond and teach each other the true meaning of “ohana” โ the Hawaiian term meaning family.
โLilo & Stitch” was directed by Dean Fleischer Camp. The movie’s cast also includes Zach Galifianakis, Hannah Waddingham, Tia Carrere, Billy Magnussen and Courtney B. Vance as CIA agent Cobra Bubbles.
Chris Sanders, who co-wrote and directed the original movie, returns as the voice of Stitch.
“Lilo & Stitch” also featured the late David Hekili Kenui Bell. The Honolulu-born actor, who proudly described himself on Instagram as the โShave Ice Guyโ from โLilo & Stitch,โ died in June at age 46 of undisclosed causes.
