Coldplay says a now-viral post on X informing fans it will offer special sections for concertgoers who are cheating on their significant others is not real.
“Starting with our next show, we’re introducing camera-free audience sections for people and their sidepieces,” read a screenshot of an alleged post that appeared to be from the band’s official X account.
“A thoughtful decision by Coldplay,” wrote an X user who shared the alleged post.
A representative for the band has confirmed with TODAY.com that the post is fake.
Coldplay found itself in the center of a storm when a camera panned to a couple in an embrace during a show on its “Music of the Spheres World Tour” at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on July 16, prompting frontman Chris Martin to say, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”
The moment quickly went viral as people investigated what the man and woman were doing at the show. Coldplay has not commented on the matter.
Coldplay’s tour continues July 19 at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin.
