Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have officially split.
On July 3, their reps released a joint statement addressing the couple’s separation, noting how they will shift their relationship to focus on their 4-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove.
โDue to the abundance of recent interest and conversation surrounding Orlando Bloom and Katy Perryโs relationship, representatives have confirmed that Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting,โ the statement shared with TODAY.com reads. โThey will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is โ and always will be โ raising their daughter with love, stability and mutual respect.โ
The singer and actor have been engaged since 2019, previously postponing their wedding amid the โTeenage Dreamโ singerโs pregnancy and the coronavirus pandemic.
They first began dating in 2016, before breaking up a year later. By 2018 they had rekindled their romance and got engaged on Valentineโs Day in 2019.
Perry announced her pregnancy in March 2020 in her music video for โNever Worn White.โ Amid the pregnancy and COVID-19 pandemic, they postponed their wedding plans.
โI tried to do it this year, and it poo-pooed on me, so ask me again in another year! I went through the whole freakinโ process,โ Perry told People in 2020. โRight now, weโre just so focused on this (pregnancy), which is exciting. Letโs hope (2021) is different than โ20. Every time we try to make a plan, it switches. Itโs really all about going with the flow these days!โ
The couple welcomed their daughter in August 2020. Bloom is also father to 14-year-old son Flynn with ex-wife Miranda Kerr.
Back in February 2023, Bloom got candid about some challenges he and Perry have faced in their relationship.
โWeโre in two very different pools,โ he told Flaunt magazine. โHer pool is not a pool that I necessarily understand, and I think my pool is not a pool that she necessarily understands.โ
Adding, โSometimes things are really, really, really, challenging. I wonโt lie.โ
Bloom, however, has also expressed how supportive they are of each other, especially after he risked his life in his Peacock series โOrlando Bloom: To the Edge,โ where he threw himself into extreme sports like wingsuiting, free diving and rock climbing.
Despite Perry expressing concern and worry for the big risks involved in the show, Bloom told TODAY in an April 2024 appearance, โSheโs super supportive. We both are of each other.โ
