โBachelor in Paradiseโ is back. After taking a year off, the reality series returns with a new cast and some notable changes.
The most significant transformation? Season 10 marks the first time the spinoff series has departed from its typical shooting location of Mexico.
For nine seasons, โBachelor in Paradiseโ called Mexico home โ first in Tulum for Season 1, then settling into Sayulitaโs Playa Escondida Resort for Seasons 2 through 9.
The change means the franchiseโs famous crabs wonโt be making their typical cameos. The show filmed during the land crabsโ migration from the jungle to the ocean to lay eggs, an annual event in Sayulita. The crabs became an unofficial mascot for the show.
What will this season bring? Find out.
Where was โBachelor in Paradiseโ Season 10 filmed?
โBachelor in Paradiseโ filmed in Azura Beach Resort, a four-star hotel on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, according to a preview in Entertainment Weekly.
Whatโs different at the new resort?
According to Azura Beach Resortโs website, the all-inclusive, adults-only hotel is located on Playa Sรกmara, a bay in the Pacific Ocean. Playa Sรกmara is about five hours from Costa Rica’s main airport in San Josรฉ.
The Costa Rican location offers amenities the Mexican resort didnโt have โ starting with air conditioning. Previously, โBachelor in Paradiseโ stars stayed in open air bungalows without AC.
Entertainment Weeklyโs preview of the room setup shows the โBachelor in Paradiseโ cast stayed in rooms that open out to a private pool.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Scott Teti went into detail about what the hotel offered โย beyond the “sexy chicness” he said it has.
โThe cast can literally open the doors to their rooms and swim out into the pool under bridges, and then up to a beautiful bar that is touching the beach. It has amazing views. The beach itself is private and unique. Thereโs a beautiful island right off it with a bunch of fishing boats that surround it every day, with a quaint little town right next door, but not a ton of foot traffic. It feels remote and upscale and sexy at the same time,โ Teti said.
Did the cast share rooms?
According to Teti, each cast member bunked with a roommate while filming. There was, however, a VIP Room where the cast could get a little privacy โย the Boom Boom Room by a different name.
“Bachelor in Paradise” starts on Monday, July 7 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
