āBachelor in Paradiseā is back. After taking a year off, the reality series returns with a new cast and some notable changes.
The most significant transformation? Season 10 marks the first time the spinoff series has departed from its typical shooting location of Mexico.
For nine seasons, āBachelor in Paradiseā called Mexico home ā first in Tulum for Season 1, then settling into Sayulitaās Playa Escondida Resort for Seasons 2 through 9.
The change means the franchiseās famous crabs wonāt be making their typical cameos. The show filmed during the land crabsā migration from the jungle to the ocean to lay eggs, an annual event in Sayulita. The crabs became an unofficial mascot for the show.
What will this season bring? Find out.
Where was āBachelor in Paradiseā Season 10 filmed?
āBachelor in Paradiseā filmed in Azura Beach Resort, a four-star hotel on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, according to a preview in Entertainment Weekly.
Whatās different at the new resort?
According to Azura Beach Resortās website, the all-inclusive, adults-only hotel is located on Playa SĆ”mara, a bay in the Pacific Ocean. Playa SĆ”mara is about five hours from Costa Rica’s main airport in San JosĆ©.
The Costa Rican location offers amenities the Mexican resort didnāt have ā starting with air conditioning. Previously, āBachelor in Paradiseā stars stayed in open air bungalows without AC.
Entertainment Weeklyās preview of the room setup shows the āBachelor in Paradiseā cast stayed in rooms that open out to a private pool.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Scott Teti went into detail about what the hotel offered āĀ beyond the “sexy chicness” he said it has.
āThe cast can literally open the doors to their rooms and swim out into the pool under bridges, and then up to a beautiful bar that is touching the beach. It has amazing views. The beach itself is private and unique. Thereās a beautiful island right off it with a bunch of fishing boats that surround it every day, with a quaint little town right next door, but not a ton of foot traffic. It feels remote and upscale and sexy at the same time,ā Teti said.
Did the cast share rooms?
According to Teti, each cast member bunked with a roommate while filming. There was, however, a VIP Room where the cast could get a little privacy āĀ the Boom Boom Room by a different name.
“Bachelor in Paradise” starts on Monday, July 7 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
