Following a Trump-centric cold open that featured the return of Tom Hanksโ David S. Pumpkins, โSaturday Night Liveโ host Inde Navarrette took the stage at Studio 8H for her first opening monologue. It was a fitting choice to have the star of the yearโs breakout horror hit โObsessionโ (and the internetโs apparent obsession) make her hosting debut on Halloween night, and the 25-year-old rising star seemed more than up for the occasion, unlike a certain stand-up comedian.
โYou probably know me from the movie โObsession.โ And a lot of people ask me if Iโm anything like my character Nikki and Iโm like, โNoโฆ no, no, donโt do that!โโ she joked, sliding into Nikkiโs cadence. โBut the thing is, is Iโm nothing like my character in โObsession.โ Like, my boyfriend is here tonight to support me and we have such a chill relationship, right?โ
The camera then cut to Navarretteโs boyfriend, Nick Aiello, in the crowd bound and gagged to a chair. Then, the actress took a shot at Shane Gillisโ โSNLโ monologue from earlier this month.
โI canโt believe Iโm saying this, but Iโm going to be in a Marvel movie,โ said Navarrette, who will be playing Rogue in the new โX-Menโ movie. โAnd I know itโs really important for Marvel that you get really fit, so Iโve been working out a lot, so every morning I put on my little whore outfit and I hit the gym.โ
Gillis got a lot of flak for a lame, lazy joke about how women dress like โwhoresโ now when they go to the gym in โneon, like, artificial baitโ-colored shorts.
