Richard Smith, the brother of actor Jodie Turner-Smith, was sued by three women for alleged sexual misconduct and drug dealing; Turner-Smith was named in the suit as allegedly enabling his behavior.
Three Jane Does filed a lawsuit with the Los Angeles Superior Court against Smith and Turner-Smith on Thursday. They each accused Smith of engaging them in unwanted sexual activity. The lawsuit claims that Turner-Smith enabled Smithโs behavior by paying his bills, providing housing and giving resources that supported his lifestyle, including allegedly gifting him an Audi that he used to transport drugs.
โTurner-Smithโs role is distinct from Smithโs alleged direct conduct,โ the lawsuit claimed. โTurner-Smith knew of significant dangers associated with Smith and, despite that knowledge, continued to provide or make available resources that enabled Smith to maintain housing, transportation, and a lifestyle in which the alleged conduct continued.โ
โThis is a fictional lawsuit filed by someone who has been harassing Jodie while hiding behind the name Jane Doe. The claims are not true. This is an abuse of the legal system, allowing someone to make up facts and file meritless legal document,โ a representative for Turner-Smith said in a statement to People.
The first Jane Doe alleged that Smith isolated her in a bedroom in June 2024, wouldnโt let her leave, pressured her to do drugs and involve her in non-consensual sexual activity with him and another man. The second woman alleged that a year earlier, her relationship with Smith became โincreasingly coercive, unhealthy, and controlling.โ She also claimed to be pressured to use drugs, engage in non-consensual sex with other men and witnessed โdrug use, drug sales or distribution activity, sexual parties, firearms, and conduct by Smith that caused her to fear for her safety.โ The third Jane Doe claimed that Smith offered her housing in exchange for sex and that Smith allegedly forced drug use and sexual activity upon her.
