Kartik Aaryan’s ‘Captain India’ Sets September London Shoot

โ€œCaptain India,โ€ starring Kartik Aaryan, commences principal photography in London this September, with the shoot expected to wrap by the end of October.

The film is directed by Shimit Amin, known for โ€œChak De! India,โ€ a title that has continued to resonate with audiences years after its 2007 release. โ€œCaptain Indiaโ€ is produced by T-Seriesโ€˜ Bhushan Kumar and Baweja Studios, alongside Dopamine Studios, with S.B. Films handling production.

โ€œCaptain Indiaโ€ draws on Indiaโ€™s real-life evacuation of citizens from a war-torn country. The screenplay is written by Nash Vazifdar, Sanchit Gupta and Priyadarshee Shrivastava. An ensemble cast is expected to join Aaryan.

Aaryan most recently starred in โ€œTu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meriโ€ and โ€œBhool Bhulaiyaa 3,โ€ and has โ€œNaagzillaโ€ and other projects currently in the pipeline. Amin, meanwhile, is best known for directing โ€œChak De! Indiaโ€ and โ€œRocket Singh: Salesman of the Yearโ€ (2009), both for Yash Raj Films, and has largely stayed away from feature directing in the years since. He directed an episode of BBC/Netflixโ€™s โ€œA Suitable Boyโ€ (2020).

A film titled โ€œCaptain Indiaโ€ was first announced in 2021, with Hansal Mehta attached to direct for RSVPโ€™s Ronnie Screwvala and Baweja Studiosโ€™ Harman Baweja, who also wrote that version of the script, and Aaryan set to play a pilot involved in the rescue mission. Principal photography was then expected to begin in early 2022.

The film is set for release on Aug. 13, 2027, timed to Indiaโ€™s Independence Day weekend.

Production on โ€œCaptain Indiaโ€ begins Sept. 1.
