Nozem From Scott Vickers to Star Buddy Boerkoel, Daniel Fathers

Brit director Scott Vickers has lined up the cast for upcoming Amsterdam-set gangland thriller “Nozem,” which starts shooting in the Dutch capital next week.

Led by the film’s writer Buddy Boerkoel, the film will also star Daniel Fathers (“House of the Dragon“), Francesca van Neuren (“Coked”) and Ibrahim Naji (“Gedachten aan de regen”).

“Nozem” (which means “Street Thug” in Dutch) is set in Amsterdam’s criminal underbelly and a |hidden empire of drugs, power and old-school gang codes.”

The story follows Robbie, whose parents were murdered at the hands of notorious gangster Franz Müller in the 90s. Twenty-five years on and seeking revenge, Robbie infiltrates his gang from the bottom up in order to kill the man responsible, only to discover that the British underboss is grooming him to settle a debt no one was ever meant to survive. Jamie Gene, Mario Wittmann, Bram Legerstee, Liam James Collins, Ivana Stamenkovits and William Sutton have supporting roles.

“When Buddy Boerkoel came to me with ‘Nozem,’ I was hooked immediately. It reveals the reality of Amsterdam’s underworld beneath its postcard exterior,” said Vickers, known for the horror feature “Matriarch” and directing episodes of BBC drama “River City.”

“Our protagonist embeds himself inside the city’s most feared gang, Die Brüder, to destroy it from within — and finds himself seduced by the very thing he came to burn down. It’s rare to find character and arc so well developed in the action genre, and we have a fight and stunt team among the best I’ve ever worked with. It’s a very ambitious, very exciting project.”

Producers on “Nozem” include Jamie Gene, Eva Machek, Anna Vozdroganova, Orhan Vehabovic, while Boerkoel, van Neuren and Henk Hoek will serve as exec producers.

Vickers’ recent short film “King of the Iron Will” is Oscar-qualified and a HollyShorts nominee. He’s also the founder of the Interact Screen Actors Academy acting school.
