Alia Bhatt Rom-Com ‘Don’t Be Shy’ Sets September Prime Video Premiere

Prime Video has set a September premiere date for “Don’t Be Shy,” a young-adult romantic comedy from Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt’s Eternal Sunshine Productions.

Sreeti Mukerji wrote and directed the coming-of-age film, which is produced by Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt under the Eternal Sunshine Productions banner, with Grishma Shah and Vikesh Bhutani serving as co-producers.

The film introduces four newcomers – Aarushi Bajaj, Ansh Duggal, Bianca Arora and Piyush Khati – who headline a story centered on friendship, young love, heartbreak and the process of figuring out life as a young adult. Kunaal Roy Kapur, Anurag Basu, Neha Dhupia and Anju Alva Naik round out the cast in pivotal roles.

Eternal Sunshine Productions was founded in 2021 by Bhatt, one of the most celebrated actors in Indian cinema, and her sister Shaheen Bhatt, author of the mental health memoir “I’ve Never Been (Un)Happier” (Penguin Ebury Press, 2019). The company’s debut feature, “Darlings,” bowed in August 2022 as a Red Chillies co-production and marked Jasmeet K. Reen’s feature directorial debut. Eternal Sunshine’s slate also includes “Poacher,” the Prime Video series from Emmy winner Richie Mehta, and “Jigra,” an action-adventure from Vasan Bala co-produced with Dharma Productions.

“Don’t Be Shy” will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in Hindi with English subtitles across India and more than 240 countries and territories worldwide on Sept. 25.
