How Altérra plans to mobilize 0 billion for climate investment

Altérra CEO Majid Al Suwaidi says the UAE-backed climate investor is “extremely confident” it can mobilize $250 billion by 2030.

Abu Dhabi-based Altérra is seeking to show that climate investment can deliver competitive returns while drawing more private capital into the energy transition.

Launched at COP28 in 2023 with a $30 billion commitment, the fund aims to mobilize $250 billion by 2030. CEO Majid Al Suwaidi tells Dan Murphy that Altérra has committed about $6.5 billion to date and says he is “extremely confident” it can reach that target.

Al Suwaidi discusses the fund’s push into the Global South, its partnerships with global asset managers and the investment opportunities he sees in rising power demand from artificial intelligence and data centers.
