Produced by China Film and directed by Yang Lina, the film features Wen Qi and Qin Hailu in a story centering on a young woman whose life is disrupted by the sudden arrival of her mother as she prepares for an urgent medical procedure.ย
Horror-thriller โThe Caged Butterflyโ followed in third place, taking in $1.5 million to push its total to $13.1 million. Produced by Ultra Comedy and directed by Hao Han, the film stars Li Meng, Liu Siwei, and Jiang Zhuojun. The story is set within the notorious Butterfly Mansion villa. Columbia Picturesโ science-fiction epic โProject Hail Maryโ maintained a presence in the top five during its sixth weekend, earning $1.3 million at No. 4 for a total haul of $39.1 million.
Rounding out the top five, Universalโs โThe Super Mario Galaxy Movieโ earned $1.2 million, bringing its total to $18.7 million.
