‘I Would Love to Do it’

Lena Dunham recently told SiriusXMโ€™s โ€œRadio Andyโ€ that she has an idea for a โ€œGirlsโ€ movie. She also shared that she made a group chat with the original cast, in which theyโ€™ve discussed reuniting when the hit HBO drama is โ€œappropriately missed.โ€

โ€œI would love to do it, and I have to say, I got a little plot line in my brain. I do,โ€ Dunham said. โ€œItโ€™s impossible not to think about where they are now. I will text withโ€“I have a new chain with the girls and Andrew [Rannells] called โ€˜Survivors of the Crackcident.โ€™ Jemima [Kirke] will pop in with the best take on like, โ€˜Jess is really into RFK Jr.โ€™ and youโ€™re like, โ€˜Of course she is. Of course she is.โ€™ She does not want anyone getting vaccines. She is pissed.โ€

She added, โ€œI just see them, and also, those are my muses. So, I think itโ€™s an obvious thing. We donโ€™t want to come back to the party too early. We want to be appropriately missed.โ€

โ€œGirlsโ€ ran for 62 episodes across six seasons on HBO from 2012 to 2017. Dunham created the show and starred alongside Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke, Adam Driver, Zosia Mamet, Alex Karpovsky and Andrew Rannells. โ€œGirlsโ€ was nominated for 19 Emmys and won two during its run.

โ€œWell, thereโ€™s a โ€˜Girlsโ€™ movie, HBO Max!โ€ Dunham joked. โ€œI would be delighted.โ€

Dunham recently published her book โ€œFamesick,โ€ which chronicles her life and struggles as she rose to fame in her early 20s. In the book, she wrote that her โ€œGirlsโ€ co-star Driver was โ€œverbally aggressive, condescending and physically imposingโ€ while filming.
