Zendaya, inspired by the classic Victorian-era couplet, rocked Tuesday nightโs wedding themed preimere of โThe Dramaโ in the same dress she wore to the 2015 Oscars.
โI was brainstorming with [stylist Law Roach] about how I would theme dress for this film, and I kind of remembered the saying, โSomething old, something new, something borrowed, something blue,’โ Zendaya told Variety at โThe Dramaโ premiere. โSo I thought Iโd bring it back.โ
Recalling the 2015 Academy Awards, she said, โIt was such an important moment for myself, my community, for my loved ones, and it felt right. And it also happens to be a wedding dress, so that works.โ
โThe Drama,โ from writer-director Kristoffer Borgli, stars Zendaya as Emma Hardwood, a bookstore employee from Louisiana, and Robert Pattinson as Charlie Thompson, a British museum director. In the film, they are days away from being married, but their relationship takes a disastrous turn just before the wedding. A24 unveiled the characters in a fictional engagement announcement published in the Boston Globe.
โThe Dramaโ marks Borgliโs second collaboration with A24 after 2023โs โDream Scenarioโ with Nicolas Cage. Known for high-concept and often extreme psychological dramedies, Borgliโs other feature credits include 2017โs โDribโ and 2022โs โSick of Myself.โ
Zendaya has a busy slate of projects coming in 2026. On April 12, the third, and likely final, season of โEuphoriaโ premieres on HBO. On the film side, she is set to star in Christopher Nolanโs โThe Odyssey,โ which hits theaters on July 17. Sheโs also got โSpider-Man: Brand New Dayโ and โDune: Part 3โ on the horizon, which premiere on July 31 and Dec. 18, respectively.
