Charlotte will gain the North American headquarters of Maersk, a global shipping company.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. โ Global shipping and logistics company Maersk has chosen Charlotteย for its official North American headquarter, which will bring 520 jobs and $16 million in investments to Mecklenburg County, Gov. Josh Stein announced.ย
โMaerskโs decision to bring its North American headquarters to Charlotte speaks to North Carolinaโs reputation as a top destination for global business,โ Stein said. โWe are home to a world-class workforce, and weโre proud to welcome Maersk to North Carolina โ the top state for business in the country.โย
Maersk has had an office in south Charlotte since 2006. The expansion to an official headquarters will increase the workforce to over 1,300 employees.ย
โThe cityโs strong infrastructure and talented workforce have helped drive our growth over the years,” President of North American Region Charles van der Steene. “Weโre excited to strengthen our commitment to Charlotte and continue building on the success weโve achieved together.โย
Maersk plans to hire in logistics and supply, finance, legal, customer experience, human resources, business support and operations. Some roles will not require a college degree.ย
