See Michael Douglas and Son Cameron in ‘Looking Through Water’ Preview Clip: EXCLUSIVE

Michael Douglas and his son Cameron Douglas are teaming up on the big screen.

A preview of the trailer for the pair’s new movie, “Looking Through Water,” aired Aug. 4 on TODAY. The drama revolves around a man who hopes to connect with his estranged son by entering them in a father-son fishing competition.

The clip features Michael Douglas in a boat speaking to a younger man before what appears to be a flashback to the experience of competing in the tournament and the father and son coming to terms with their differences.

The film, which also stars David Morse, Michael Stahl-David, Ximena Romo, Tamara Tunie and Walker Scobell, opens in theaters nationwide Sept. 12.

“Looking Through Water” is not the first time Michael Douglas and his son Cameron Douglas, whom he shares with his ex-wife, Diandra Luker, will star in a movie together. They co-starred in 2003’s “It Runs in the Family,” which also featured Michael Douglas’ late parents, Kirk Douglas and Diana Douglas.

Michael Douglas hasn’t been in a film since “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” in 2023. He most recently appeared in 2024’s “Franklin,” playing Benjamin Franklin in the Apple TV+ limited series.

Last month, he said he had decided to slow down his output.

“I have not worked since 2022 purposefully because I realized I had to stop,” he said while appearing at the Czech Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.

“I had been working pretty hard for almost 60 years, and I did not want to be one of those people who dropped dead on the set,” Douglas continued.

“I say I’m not retired because if something special came up, I’d go back, but otherwise, I’m quite happy, just like to watch my wife work,” he continued, referring to Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Cameron Douglas’ last movie was 2022’s “Wire Room,” starring Bruce Willis. His most recent on-screen project was the 2023 miniseries “The Crowded Room.”
