Packing for labor is rarely glamorous โ unless youโre Olivia Culpo. The model and influencerโs hospital bag video is going viral for being both luxe and (possibly) practical.
Culpo, 33, who announced the birth of her daughter with NFL player Christian McCaffrey earlier this week, has sparked conversation with a TikTok showing exactly what she packed for the hospital. Since being posted on July 10, the video has received more than 1.9 million views and nearly 4,000 comments.
โI worked really hard on this, and I know how overwhelming the whole process is,โ Culpo says at the start of the clip. โI committed a while ago to making a video. Iโve watched so many of these and theyโre really interesting.โ
It quickly becomes clear Culpo isnโt a throw-it-in-a-duffel-and-go kind of packer.
โEverything in this first suitcase is, like, my comfort stuff,โ she explains. โTwo fluffy comforters, twin size for Christian and I … Two sleep masks. I have one mini fan. I actually got another one.โ
She continues, sharing that she also intends to pack items for aromatherapy, a plushy robe from Chasa and a photo of her dog. Culpo topped off her list of comfortable items with what she describes as the “most ridiculous” thing she’s packed: a set of flameless flickering candles.
When it comes to outfits, Culpo has those covered, too โ from a matching lounge robe set and โall of my favorite pajama setsโ to an โall-cashmere black outfit,โ nursing bras, and products for foot swelling.
Culpo ends the video with a dose of self-awareness: โI hope you guys find it useful, but if you didnโt find any of this helpful and you think Iโm ridiculous… then I slightly agree with you.โ
While some viewers were surprised by the sheer volume of what she packed, others defended her approach.
“As a labor nurse…literally bring whatever you want,” wrote one viewer. “Comfort is important, especially if you have a C-section and a longer hospital stay.”
When one user questioned Culpo’s decision to include so many white bedding a clothing items, she replied, โIf youโre bleeding enough after a C-section to soak THROUGH your pads/diaper/bandages and onto your bedding, thatโs a serious medical issue, not a packing fail,โ she wrote.
โAlsoโฆ the hospital sheets are already white. Are you going to ask them if they have other colors for you lol.โ
In large part, her inclusion of the candles had people debating.
“The flickering candles made me literally LOL,” one commented, while another said, “Everyone hating on the flickering candles hasn’t given birth LOL having mine made my room so much more peaceful!”
“I am SOOOOOO happy I had these,” Culpo replied. “They come with a remote control.. I had a c section so I couldnโt get up to turn on or off the lights (which are horrible and fluorescent anyway) .. I wanted to be able to see the baby at night etc. No one will ever convince me these were a bad idea Iโm sorry.”
In the end, most users just wanted to know what actually worked for the model at the end of the day.
โOmg are you kidding,โ one person commented. โThat is so much โ you have to do another video and tell us what you actually used lol.
