Jonathan and Drew Scott are getting real about a past argument they had when it came to their salaries.
The “Property Brothers” appeared on SiriusXM’s “Andy Cohen Live,” where the host asked if he went into their bank accounts, would they have the same amount of money?
The question then prompted Jonathan Scott to share his thoughts on how he should have been paid more on their show.
“I used to film three times more than Drew because he would be there in the beginning, and then he would come back at the end of an episode, and I was there doing the work,” he said to Andy Cohen. “And I remember after doing this for 10 years, because we’ve been on the air now for over 15 years, I remember I finally said to Drew, I’m like, ‘Should I maybe get paid three times what you get paid?’ And he’s like, ‘You’re never allowed to bring this up again ever.’”
Drew Scott, on his end, replied that it’s because he also deals with the contracts.
When Cohen asked if that was a real fight they had in the past, the brothers confirmed that it was.
“Off camera, Jonathan and I both do the construction,” Drew Scott added. “He’s a licensed contractor, but we’ve both done the renovations for years. And also he was a licensed broker. So we’ve done both sides of the fence.”
He also added that they have their product line and their multi-family real estate portfolio, which adds to their income.
“So there’s a lot outside of what people see on the shows,” Drew Scott said.
Jonathan and Drew shot the pilot for “Property Brothers” in 2009, which then debuted in 2011. Since then, the twins have launched a slew of successful spinoffs over the years, including “Brother vs. Brother,” “Property Brothers: Forever Home” and “Backed by the Bros.”
They also have a production company called Scott Brothers Entertainment, as well as home collections (Scott Living and Drew & Jonathan Home) and a lifestyle website.
Just last year, the siblings renovated their parents’ new home in Los Angeles.
“We wanted our parents to feel just as much at home here as they did at their ranch in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, so we tailored the home perfectly to them,” the brothers wrote in the September/October 2024 issue of HGTV Magazine. “They couldn’t be happier, and we’re so thrilled with this project that we filmed the whole reno process for our new show, ‘Don’t Hate Your House with the Property Brothers.’”
