After seven years together and 10 seasons, the Fab Five will soon say goodbye to “Queer Eye.”
On Wednesday, July 9, Netflix announced on Instagram that the upcoming tenth season of the reality series will be its last.
“10 seasons. Fab Five. One last go ‘round,” the post read.
Netflix added, “The final season of Queert Eye is officially in production!”
The post included two photos of the Fab Five — Jonathan Van Ness, Tan France, Antoni Porowski, Karamo Brown and newcomer Jeremiah Brent. One picture showed them staring at the Washington Monument, suggesting that the final season could be taking place in Washington, D.C.
The streamer did not share more details about Season 10, including the premiere date.
Members of the team reacted to the surprise news beneath the post. France commented, “What a joy it’s been to be able to make this beautiful show all these years.”
“What a wild ride,” Van Ness wrote. “Excited to bring it back one more time.”
Porowski shared the post on his Instagram story and said, “Let’s make our last one count,” and included a heart-hand and clapping emoji. Brent simply shared the Netflix announcement to his Instagram story.
On his page, France penned a longer post about the series coming to an end.
“First day of the FINAL season of Queer Eye. It’s been a long, beautiful journey we’ve been on, and I truly appreciate all of the love and support for our little show, that changed my life in ways I never thought possible,” he said.
France continued, “As we begin our farewell season here on D.C. I simply want to say thank you! Thank you!!!!!”
“Queer Eye,” a reboot of the early 2000s Bravo series of the same name, debuted on Netflix in February 2018 and introduced audiences to Porowski (food and wine expert), Van Ness (grooming expert), Brown (culture and lifestyle expert) and France (fashion expert).
The show also featured design expert Bobby Berk for the first eight seasons.
The Fab Five traveled around the country in the episodes, helping build up the self-confidence of each “hero” they met.
In February 2024, Berk surprised fans by announcing he was leaving the show. Netflix later confirmed in a press release that Berk would be replaced by New York City-based interior designer Jeremiah Brent, who is married to fellow interior designer and author Nate Berkus. Brent officially joined the team when Season 9, which took place in Las Vegas, arrived on Netflix in December 2024.
The end of “Queer Eye” comes after the updated Fab Five previously spoke to TODAY.com in December 2024 about having a new co-star. France said that Brent brought new life to the show after it appeared to be entering its “sunset era.”
“My only job when I started here was making sure that they knew that I was going to earn their trust,” Brent said.
Brown chimed in, adding, “And did he do the work.”
Berk previously revealed to Vanity Fair in a January 2024 interview why he left the show. He explained that he started shifting his focus to other projects outside of the show when the group’s initial contract ended in September 2022.
“We thought we were done. Mentally and emotionally, I thought we all moved on. I know I did, and I started planning other things,” he shared at the time.
After Netflix offered the group a new contract, he said he “wasn’t willing to change” his other commitments.
Berk also said he “had a moment” with France. “There was a situation, and that’s between Tan and I, and it has nothing to do with the show,” he shared.
He continued, “It was something personal that had been brewing — and nothing romantic, just to clarify that.”
Fans had suspected the two had a falling out as Berk unfollowed France on Instagram following the news of his departure.
Speaking about the situation, Berk said, “Should I have unfollowed Tan? No. Maybe I should have just muted him. But that day, I was angry, and that’s the end of it. We became like siblings — and siblings are always going to fight.”
However, the two reunited at the 2023 Emmys (which was held in January 2024) and Berk told the magazine that he foresaw them being on good terms again.
Still, a couple months later, Rolling Stone reported in March 2024 that France and Porowski allegedly worked together to replace Berk with Brent, who is their friend.
France reacted to the report in an Instagram video uploaded March 8, 2024.
“My former colleague getting fired had nothing to do with me trying to get my friend hired,” he said. “Netflix and the production companies did a full on casting. I didn’t pop my friend up for the job — they ended up getting it because they were the best person for the job.”
He added, “I think they’re going to be incredible on the show, but I didn’t get them hired by getting rid of somebody else. So from the horse’s mouth, I’m telling you, that that’s not at all how it went down. And that’s all I’ll say on the matter.”
